It's not a dig. It's true. Aliens is an adrenaline pumped piece of popcorn cinema, typical of James Cameron. Nothing wrong with that, of course. I do enjoy mindless violence and terrible dialogue along the lines of "let's kick some alien ass" from time to time but saying Aliens is better or is in anyway superior to Alien is clearly nonsense.

    Who gives a ****?

Does dialogue along the lines of "let's kick alien butt" sound better on a big screen or something?

I don't know because that's not dialogue from Aliens.

And "Who gives a ****?", clearly you do as you seem determined to argue about it.

Some movies are meant for Cinema, because they become more powerful when viewed as a shared experience, Aliens is one of those movies. Alien is a really good film in my opinion, but Aliens shades it for me. Personal taste.

If Alien is - in your opinion - a more intelligent movie then good for you.

I would say better Mick, the first episode gives the back story. Wait for the rabbit scenes.

Didny see the first series. Is that a requirement to watching the second?

Could probably watch the second series on it's own, but the first series was cracking.
