Ex Chelsea and ageing BUT good work ethic and very fit for his age. Possibly a reasonable signing IF the contract is right.
Definite no from me. What do we want with another aging striker. Yes we do need at least one more and Sigthorson or a seaon loan of Bamford are far more sensible options.
Could do a lot worse Free Agent Banged a few in for Chelsea last season Good workrate and fitness Wants to stay London based 1 year wages only deal I would suggest better option than the injury prone Icelandic lad whose name I can't spell or worse still a £5m move for Crouch......
Eto'o lives (LIVES) at the Ritz, my housemate is one of the managers there and knows him. Really nice guy apparently, and he is still there........ I'd rather not have him unless you're talking 10k a week money
Def not a long term solution but would do a job on pay as you play for 1 season. facts are he can score and we have only one other wwho can do that...at a lower level. Desperation setting in ?!
model profesional. Well worth a go. He doesnt strike me as a guy with a bad attitude. Like Rio he just wanys to play.
Just reading this thread - he's also linked with Juventus (albeit as backup) and there are lots of fairly flippant refusals on here (ie with no reasons). I've always thought he's a good player. His season with Chelsea had the same squad rotation issues that they seem to drill into anyone except Drogba. A top striker who has scored in top leagues around Europe compared to Austin (unproven at this level), Zamora (more of a contributor than out and out goalscorer) and some fairly hopeful names who haven't really done enough to convince me that they definitely will score goals at this level. If we are trying to replace Remy then, for quality and experience, I'd sign Eto'o immediately provided his wages don't cause a rift in the team.
With all our experience of bringing in highly paid prima donas - and the damage it has caused I feel he would fall into that category. With all the excitement Caulker signing gave, we need more of these types of signings, rather than the "highly-paid-prima-donas-last-pay-cheque" type
He's earnt well but never struck me as a prima donna. I also worry about our goals for this season - we don't want to end up in a position where Austin needs to do a Kevin Philips or Marcus Stewart (ie be one of the top few scorers) just to keep us up. I hope he can do that but he might score 7 or eight goals. I don't think Crouch, as the other "proven" scorer, would hit double figures either (despite the fact that I think he's decent).
We scored 60 goals in 46 games last year, everyone in the Championship except Brighton all the way down to 14th scored more than us. 23 of our goals came in the 6 games we scored 3 and the 5 we put past Forest. So for 38 games we averaged just less than a goal a game. We need more goals from all round the team - Hoilett, Philips, the 'new number 10', Barton whoever, so a new striker or two who will score is essential. As it stands I think Caulker with 5 would be the second highest scorer from last season in our current squad. If it's not an old, proven Prem player it has to be someone from abroad. Watford want £10m for Deeney, its a joke. I'd rather have given Remy £15m to stay, at least he is guaranteed to score.
Agree and a poster who talks sense about QPR and Football ... Long time QPR fans know the value of being entertained. we need that balance going forward The pressure... it's a no brainer of course employ him for a season. No excuses even the blind should see Harold talks **** ... we need to survive and that means getting points and goals Building players for the future is very important of course but make the future happen We are this situation because of one man you Harold ... Now take responsibility for your actions you knob ... it's your fault you sneaky ****er
It's scary that there are actually fans who'd want Eto'O. Still- more exciting celebs at the club! Lovely Jubbly!
Dont necc want him mate, but want someone we know can score goals to play alongside our unproven strike force. he may only chip in 5-10 goals but that could be the diffrence between 17th & 18th place. Not like we're overloaded with players right now ?
This could be our corner flag? please log in to view this image As a squad striker, he'd certainly chip in, along with Zamora, with a few goals, but the price has to be right on a one year contract, but he'd certainly be a cut above the likes of Will (Gregory) Keane, Maiga, Andy Johnson & Kevin Doyle.
QPR have overtaken Roma as the favourites to sign Samuel Eto'o this summer. The Premier League side are now 6/4, with the Serie A outfit out to 7/4.
