Great - good job done by Rory - he held on enough Lewis Hamilton drove pretty well too - despite trying to make it difficult
I think I will watch the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games - I am not usually into opening ceremonies but for some reason seem to be in this one. The games ought to be pretty good.
Jersey is sending it's largest ever team, but as usual the best chance of any medals are in the shooting events. I also read about the first ever Jersey gymnast at a Commonwealth Games who is a 15 year old girl and has had a manic time of it this year with training plus her GCSE work but her comment about that was that she's had the situation of training and schoolwork for years, so it's normal for her.
There seemed to be a lot of athletes from The Falkland Islands but I was watching from the dentist's chair so I may be mistaken. Good to see St Helena participating. What the Royal Mail did to their economy was unforgivable.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cycling/28446017 Nice to see the Police having a bit of humour about it - if it had been the English team they'd all have got 10 years
The size of the Commonwealth actually surprised me - 71 competitor nations / dependencies etc. I think I even heard them say the size of the commonwealth is something like 2.3 billion people - phew. Prfetty good event I thought last night although why they keep dragging out aging rock stars who have lost their voice baffles me
With the Brownlee twins and Sir Bradley we might win another 2! Scots have their chance in the pool...
