If the rumours of £15m are true then no, wouldn't go near him. anything around the 5-7m mark sounds about right to me. No way that Gold & Sullivan will let him go for that sort of money though.

He's not at all slow, I'm sick of the claims that he's only a one trick pony, because when he was at Newcastle he scored different types of goals, headers from crosses/set pieces and goals on the ground.

He wasn't what I'd called a technical player, but he's certainly not the type that will spoil you a move.

He's not quick, but for a 6ft 3 inch many he's not at all slow. He's better than average pace.

Agree. I always liked him best when he was moving forward like a charging moose and had the ball played to his feet. Complete defender's nightmare.

Only concerns with Carroll would be economic (wages, etc) and his injury record.

Yes, he likes getting out on the piss! Haha. Who knows. I wouldn't be against it, but that injury record has to be a concern.

10 mio would be a lot. 15 no way. No way. Last few seasons he's been like a 6 goal striker, when fully fit. That's barely better than a Shola. It's like Naysmith or Torres.

I'd have him back if he was cheap. If he's taking a sizable bite out of our budget then no. He is awesome at holding the ball up and could be great at bringing into play the 3 sat behind him. Injured too much though.

Exactly. I don't doubt his ability. If fit he'd score regularly for us and create a lot for others. Its a mighty big IF with him though.

I completely agree that 15M is too much for him, but it makes me laugh that on one thread we're lambasting the club for buying cheap and then on the next we're complaining about us potentially over paying for Mandy.

I do think £15M is too much, but I'd welcome him back as I'm a big fan of his ability.

absolutely would have him back ..as our back-up striker ...15 million nope .. 10 tops + sensible wages, would rather spend a little more and get a Lukaku type if the talk of 15 million is to be believed (think the whole thing is a none starter personally)

Never been any use since he left and you know what they say, you can take the lad out of Newcastle, but you can't take Newcastle out of the lad.
It would be good to see him come home, but l really don't see this one happening.

First thing I thought of when I saw on the BBC site he was injured was how convenient this would be if he just, you know, happened to have a medical planned somewhere (not necessarily us, anywhere, I personally have mixed feelings about the whole idea of him potentially coming back to us)

I mean, a sore left ankle? Really?

Going by his record on Wiki, since Andy left us 3 and a half years ago he has played 83 league games with a return of 15 goals.

Yes, he is a handful and can bring other players into play but 15 goals in 83 games is poor. He needs to play more games and score more goals.

Me think Andy will come home in 2-3 years time when he's like 28 and spend another 5-6 years with us being unplayable at times but usually just a injury prone journeyman...much like Shola was.

That would just add another count to the "derisory bids made by NUFC" from us.

Am I getting this right, you think Shola and Carroll are of a similar level of ability? Or do just mean their careers will end up on the same path due to injuries? Hopefully the latter or I suggest a trip to the looney bin!

Are you to young to remember a starry night in Barcelona ?

There was a time when Shola was almost as promising as Carroll was. That time probably lasted longer than Carroll's as well. Trouble now is that it is almost impossible to remember Shola's moments where as Andy's are still fresh in the brain.
