For the neigh sayers who think the stadium is fine as it doesn't need an expansion then I say : 1. You have a small time attitude and have no concept of the future, the growth of the club and the potential that the club has to expand its fan base over the next 10 years starting now. 2. We might not sell out every game now but that is because we don't make a considerable effort to do so currently. There is an attitude of the seats will sell them selves. Surely an expansion of the stadium would lead to the investment of new staff whose responsibility would be to make sure them seats are full. 3. Every chairman under every regime since the stadium was built have desired to expand the stadium, regardless of what league we are in. So there is no coincidence there. The problem has been the semantics of taking on such a job.
If we are ever to buy the stadium and without owning it will never be expanded, the time to do it is now. Hull City Council are penniless, they cannot operate even the basic of every day duties, every thing is cut to the bone and beyond in some cases. If AA made a serious offer to buy the freehold then I cannot see how the council could possibly turn it down.
The stadium needs expanding if nowt else but to give certain sections of our fans the ability to complain it isn't full every single game, but to also mock FC for rattling around inside it.
That's seems to be the problem plus HCC sent in Terry f**wit Geraghty to meet Papa AA and not Steve Brady who was not available. That was the first mistake. I think AA thought HCC would be biting his hand off in return for him developing the West Park/ Walton Street site on the back of City reaching the Premier League and the promise of jobs and investment. Mistake number two. Councillor f**wit still thinks the annual Hull Fair is the biggest attraction in the civilised world and Hull FC must be defended at all costs. So instead of Papa speaking to a professional businessman who was willing to broker a deal to benefit, the city, the club and the region as a whole he was spoke to an bigoted, rugby league supporting, ex trade unionist who's claim to fame was pushing the plunger to detonate the High Rise Flats on his council estate (where he reigns) at a time when the city is desperately short of one and two bedroomed property. Electorate turnout in Councillor f**witts Ward is 10%, the lowest in the he country. He doesn't even hold Branch meetings, the man is a law unto himself. Rumour has it that he is locked in a cupboard somewhere at Guildhall until the CoC 2017 had been and gone, despite him being the portfolio holder for Leisure and Tourism. If Papa AA put a serious offer on the table for the KC Stadium the council are in no fit state to turn it down. I'm surprised he hasn't.
But most importantly of all, TG disrespected our dear leader by wearing a cardigan, no tie and using his iPad.
Or in intelligent terms TG went there to deliberately kibosh any deal, as he proudly stated afterwards. Its not for sale. The fairs thing for TG.
I'd love to see it happen but can't see any chance in the near future Assem Allam and Terry Gerraghty ( or whatever he's called ) , what a pair they are
To justify a stadium expansion we need to show potential investors that we have a record of consistent sell out crowds. Since we moved to the KC we have had several successful season ,promotions and 3 years in the Prem. If you take out the first season in the Prem how many times have we sold out. (I think the answer is probably very few).
IPad ? I'm impressed- I would have thought that was well beyond him. Maybe he thought it was a calculator?
Too ****ing right they do A millionaire wanting to invest millions in the City. When Siemens came to town what do you want your councillor to do turn up in a boiler suit with an attitude of you dont impress me with all your fancy money?
Heard a rumour today that Sir Adam is looking at building his own stadium on the old Birdseye site on Hessle High Road. Don't know how true it is, anyone heard similar.
Rumour was going round on the rugby forums the other week. Think someone has put two and two together. I pay on the gate and some games I thought were sold out turns out they weren't. Maybe i am not the only one.
If it would solve all this then yeah I'd much rather he'd just worn a tie. But it's just ridiculous that something so petty has snowballed into the fans V club farce we've had over the last year.
Hardly, I think he could even have been an objector. It was Councillor Larsen that put in most of the good work as far as I recall.
Terry Geraghty offered Assem Allam a joint venture to develop the KC and the surrounding area. Assem Allam turned it down as he said so clearly in one of his interviews with Angus Young. I thought it was Steve Bayes who didn't wear the tie and played with the I-pad. Assem Allam has no financial interest in expanding the stadium. He currently pays no rent to the council for its use. Any expansion is likely to mean a new lease for which the council is likely to charge an economic rent. All the monies from increased attendance, and maybe more, would be paid over to the council and any banks that helped finance the expansion. For the council an economic rent could be used to fund libraries and other council services for years to come. Selling the freehold would have to be used on building something new. The money couldn't be spent on looking after the elderly or paying the wages of librarians. That's the law unfortunately.
The council currently get nothing from the stadium, I think that if AA wanted to expand the stadium, he could offer anything that looked better for the council, so nothing to peanuts would still be an improvement, he wouldn't have to completely renegotiate the deal. Unfortunately, he won't talk to them, so even that's not an option.
