In pre-season were now 8 goals shy of our total for the whole of last season, reckon we'll break that total?
We won the league but that was all Lambert's and McNally's doing, Adam's definitely knows a lot more about football management then Gunn and is working with a stronger chief executive and chairman.
A great highlights to watch, how much space did that defence give our lads? Shocking defending -good to see some telepathy between the players though.
Having just watched the highlights, I have to agree totally re the defending, but great movement and passing between players - something that was VERY much missing in last season's performances. IMO, selling Snoddy could be a masterstroke!!!
Great win... shame it was against a pub team :-/ Hopefully the remaining friendlies will provide more of a test and we can really get some insight into what we have to look forward to next season!
Goalscoring is a good habit to get into, no matter who it is against. Scoring breeds confidence, which was totally missing last season.
Goals montage here - nice long range efforts from Whitts and Redders https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlrVM4OG5Fw
Thanks for posting the link CC Looked just a bit too easy huh? but at least the players know they can find the net now.
Yes it was against conference level opposition, but the quality of movement and goalscoring was excellent.
Hello Mikey - looking forward to the school holidays? Mummy taking you anywhere nice? For the first, and probably last, time I am going to be nice to you. I have a relative who plays for Leiston and went and saw your lot play them on Saturday. You scored fairly early on and then Leiston held you until approaching half time although Colchester always had the upper hand. Although, like us, you were playing lower opposition, several of the Leiston side have played at a higher level but in the second half fitness levels told in the heat and you ran riot winning 8-1 in the end. Freddie Sears stood out - he has obviously found his true level - and Eastmond and Gilbey also put in good stints. From what I saw I do not think that you will struggle next year although I do not think you will threaten top 6.
See, what's odd about this is that if we'd just lost 0 - 13, you could half expect Colon_mike to stick his ugly mug above the parapet - but now he even comes on to congratulate us when winning by the same margin I reckon he still has a very large soft spot for his fine feathered foes
it was basically a complete waste of time (the game i mean - i'm sure the trip out to italy has been about more than a couple of friendlies). it was easier than a practice match. you can claim they will have found a little confidence by netting a few but it was no different to them finding the net in training. they will have learnt nothing and it'll have made no difference to their fitness levels either - a totally wasted opportunity. not necessarily the clubs fault by the sounds of it but all rather embarrassing really. two teams pulled out of games against us this week. i'd love to know why.
Bethnal Y and G ‏@BethnalYG Appears Livorno have cancelled the friendly against Norwich also. No one likes them in Italy it seems.
Hi bors, I agree with Super, no contest, we could have stayed in England and played Colchester and got a similar result and that with all those star players ColMike says we have lost!!!
Adams has basically said as much. There does seem to be something strange about this tour. On the plus side our last three opponents will provide a real test hopefully Livorno can be replaced with a better calibre if team, after all they have longer to make aragements.
