What season does everyone think the worst one was as a whole, not just liverpool?

By worst I mean by entertainment value, the quality of players and games and if the league wasn't decided so soon.

I felt the 12/13 season was bad quality wise, by Febuary the league had essentially been won by Man U and the teams were basically down, only real excitement we got for the end was Spurs/Arsenal for the top four.

I'm not saying that's the worst, but I didn't enjoy that as a season.

any for me where we have won **** all, or not at least managed to get cl football.

09 was depressing esp after 2nd in 08, as you could tell everything was going against us and rafa as far as league went and asshole owners to contend with as well.

As a season as a whole, put aside Liverpools effort.

The one with Hodgson. The whole thing is a blur and I don't know what happened or who won but there's just this image of face rubbing

    then it becomes pointless lol.

i still say 09 for me, 2nd in league should have built on what we had but sadly off field problems effected those on it and it went pete tong.

i was going to say 99 when utd won the treble was depressing as i dont think it was deserved, but league they did deserve it to be fair, just got lucky in cl.

How is it pointless? Have you never seen the season as a whole?

Put aside our efforts this season, was it actually good? Only Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea challenged for the title. Arsenal got battered on a regular but still got top four, Man U were awful and the bottom sides were just as bad. IMO it was a really entertaining season, but quality wise it was poor.

Hmmmmm since 1992? Well if you go by process of elimination

Just about every arsenal title season was good, 1995 with Blackburn was dramatic....

    Chelsea under anchelotti.... Hmmmmm

I'd say Chelsea under mourinho? I do think yeah utd no 20 was a poor year as people said but generally I can't think of a year without some sort of title rivalry at some level

    "Only"

Yeah, usually the league is a one horse race, 2 if we're lucky.

Tbh I think there's always a balance there. Either you have a team or two that is patently superior to the rest, goes on a strong run and wins the league - strong but boring, or you have a bunch of teams who are essentially fighting it out to **** up slightly less than the others. Reminded me a bit of 09/10, 01/02, 95/96 and 91/92 - plenty of excitement and competition, with lots of twists at the top, but ultimately the other teams lost it as much as the champions won it.

The other archetype is like 99/00, 00/01, 03/04, 04/05, 05/06, 06/07, 10/11 and 12/13 - one team is much stronger than the others, hits the front and doesn't look back. They win it comfortably, despite either them or their competitors doing well in Europe as well, but the season ends up being quite flat as it's over bar the shouting in March.

You do get the odd few which sit in between, like 08/09 and 11//12 where two top teams fight it out to the end, but in general that doesn't seem to happen all that often imo.

Will be interested to see how this coming season works out.

Looking forward to this season, not just from an LFC standpoint. I think we are in for another close run prem. title as no team could be said to outstanding when looking at the squads. It could be argued City have the best squad on paper, but although they won it last year they did not dominate.

Also think Chelsea will challenge in their usual boring way, but may have problems at the back as Terry is another year older. Arsenal have a good squad, but again not dominant enough.

Utd are a completely unknown quantity at present as the big ego's won't be able to treat Van Gaal as they treated Moyes, it will be funny if they try to though. And as for LFC well we have "great potential" having signed lots of players with "great potential"...so fingers crossed.

We had the best defence in the league last season. We conceded 8 goals in our last 19 games last season. Unless our defence ALL have full frontal lobotomys, I cant see it being too much of a problem.

Is Cech leaving? That would be a big disruption.

Luiz has also left... oh, wait, never mind.

IF Cech leaves, he will be replaced by a better keeper (Courtois).

And Luiz, yes I remember him, that guy who was the staple of our awesome defensive performances last year. <doh>

Our back four last season for the most part was:

    Ivan Cahill Terry Azpi

Next season we have lost Luiz (still think the best bit of business we have ever done) and bought in Zouma and Felipe Luis.

David was never going to be a big loss to us, he is not a Mourinho type defender, in that he isnt very good at defending.
He is much more suited to a gung ho style team, which we will never be under Jose, as that isnt his style. Mata was sold for pretty much the same reason, because he was great when we had possession, but sh!te when we didnt, would never track back etc and Jose is a stickler for that, which is why he goes for strikers like Drogba, Costa and why he wanted Rooney, because they offer something in every area of the pitch and are giant work horses.

Lightweight, springy players like Luiz and Mata wont cut it under Jose, which is why he sh!t canned Robben back in the day and why a lot of our fans fear for Hazard.....though it looks like thats sorting itself out.
