Nice one Dave i have even fired up my Twitter account for the first time in years just to try find out some info.
Well, after Sampdoria pulled out of a friendly two weeks ago, then Novara (?) tonight at very short notice, so that we're playing the equivalent of Wroxham reserves tonight, you'd have to say that it's far from ideal pre-season preparation and organisation. Did somebody mention 'circus' on a different thread
Here's the line up vs SC Vallee d'Aoste (No, me either) Ruddy; Whittaker, Martin (c), R Bennett, Olsson; Tettey; Howson, Pilkington; Hoolahan; Hooper, Redmond. Seems like 4-5-1 to me. Unless Redmond is up front and Pilks is on the left of a diamond.
That can mean absolutely anything. It can mean 'they cried off' or maybe 'we fooked up' - or anything in between. As I said, far from ideal preparation - however you dress it up and whoever you 'blame', three weeks before a season where players and coaches keep bleating about a swift return to the promised land!
That's a decent looking line up - I just hope they all manage to stay fit - (please, Pilks?) for more meaningful encounters which follow swiftly
Sorry Cromer, that sounds like a rant at you, not meant to be, I'm just totally pissed off with so-called Norwich fans on twitter desperately searching for a nbig stick to beat the club with!
They may say it's beyond their control, but I did feel it was odd the fact they flew out without having proper plans finalised. All the games were marked "TBC" I think. If you've agreed to play a friendly, how hard is it to get a time nailed down more than a week in advance? It could be the Itailan club creating problems, but for 3 different teams (I think) to not confirm a date would rather indicate a serious lack of professionalism in Italian football (arguably possible!), or the problems were caused by our end. Still, another game, another chance for the attacking players to gel, and hopefully some more goals. Just a shame the quality of opposition has dropped. A quick google for the team suggests they play in Serie D, which is the 4th tier of Italian football, but is not a professional league, and is further split into lots of regional leagues of equal standing. S.C. Vallée d'Aoste briefly made it into pro football in 2011-12 for a single season, so presumably they're one of the stronger sides from the Serie D pool. Edit: For comparison, the original opponents Novara are a Serie C side, just relegated from Serie B.
Annoying that Lafferty and RVW are injured already as they both scored 2 goals so far and looking sharp, as i am not in Italy and have no idea who Novara are i don`t really care who we play.
I may well have been critical in the past (and doubtless will be again) on our normal match day threads, but that's where it stays. I really don't see the point of abuse / trolling on twitter. Achieves nothing - apart from alienating people. Exhibit A - David McNally
Hooper puts Norwich 1-0 up. Redmond's just hit the bar from distance too. This game sounds more like shooting practice than a match.
The official twitter account (https://twitter.com/NorwichCityFC) seems to be the only place covering it.
