I was tempted to say that, as it was so self evidently true, but I had swore to myself that I'd stop being a **** all the time.

They've already been replacing British programmers with Indians for years (I know because they had me out there managing them at one point) and a few people were quite worried for a while. However the momentum to move offshore has slowed down, as the hardest part about outsourcing is getting information across ('knowledge transfers' in business speak) - so you end up spending more time trying to tell the ****s what you want to do, rather than just quickly programming it yourself.

But yeah no doubt in the next 10 or 20 years time IT skills are going to be ubiquitous as the current generation of tech savvy kids hit the job market, and I'll need to either learn new niche skills or accept lower wages in a more competitive market. That's life.

We call it the Newgod factor...
Also there is no point getting hung up on birth rights anymore we are part of the United states of Europe and being born in the UK counts for nothing now.
On the upside i can try and get a job in Lithuania or Hungary but they don`t share our liberal recruitment policies.

You've been about the place, surely you know how it feels to be a hard working migrant with resentful and suspicious locals?

A week or so ago in a pub on the IOM I listened to a big fat drunken mess of a woman call a taxi, she requested "can you make sure the driver is white". Afterwards she tried to justify herself to the barmaid "you don't even feel safe on your own rock any more, with all these comeovers" - she then nodded towards us, as we're obviously not Manx. I'm not sure what made her feel unsafe, but it certainly shouldn't of been a fear of sexual assault. Anyway, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to guess that almost every single immigrant on the island contributes more to the island, if not general humanity, than that woman - yet there she was sitting with an air of superiority, getting upset because she thinks she has some sort of a birth right. ****ing cow.

She sounds like a **** but you live on an Island with probably 80% white people and the gene pool is very limited .
London is full of hard working migrants and always has been, i lived in Norfolk with only white English people as a kid and hated it.
Being able to get curry goat from a restaurant near my house and experiencing other peoples culture and women is brilliant but the casino industry is ****ed now because most companies actively recruit and train people from Italy and E Europe purely for cheaper staff.
They pay for the training and license and are guaranteed jobs in UK, the poker room is staffed by 90% Hungarians on zero hour contracts they get minimum wage and the casino takes a massive 30% of their tips <rake> .
Effectively they don`t need to pay the wages as the tips cover this and if they don`t need the staff they send them home until they need them.
This is a company that made over £100m PROFIT in the first 12 months and continues to make ridiculous profit.
I was never going to get rich working for someone else but i will be 40 in 2 years so i need to get out ,besides watching sad lonely desperate people losing money every day is not good for the soul.
I have probably single handedly destroyed 100s of peoples businesses and lives just by spinning a plastic ball and drawing cards.
Maybe i will do a TEFL course and teach English as a foreign language in China, they have much better workers rights than us now.

Is that not an extreme example though Mick or are all residents on the IOM of the same attitude/nature. I assume rightly/wrongly that maybe some parts of Ireland are just as unwelcoming for the English as that woman's attitude? I had a friend who used to live over in Wales and on his trips across the water, he once told me that there was certain pubs you just don't go in, unless you wanted a special unwelcoming service award. I genuinely don't know, I've no experience of the IOM or Ireland but just playing devils advocate.

I'm not singling out the Manx (they're generally very nice welcoming people), I'm blaming the type of person who thinks they have 'birth rights' over foreigners, since SN was showing resentment towards migrants pushing wages down. I've seen the same thing in Malta and Guernsey and Belfast.

I don`t resent the migrants for trying to better their lives i resent the greedy rich companies for exploiting the migrants, the f**ers turn up in Slovakia and Romania promising the locals jobs on 16 17k and for them it`s a huge amount of money .
Only when they arrive and learn how much rent travel and food cost they are basically working for nothing meanwhile they make mass redundancies to make room for the budget staff.
