Do you think we will make a Huddlestone type signing this year?

Last year the Huddlestone deal really caught people off guard and was generally kept pretty quite until we signed him. Bruce is know to be able to pull a decent signing out the bag and I just wondered whether you think we could again make a similar move and bring in a player that nobody expected?

Signing Huddlestone was arguably one of the signings of the Premiership season last year and was a real statement of intent to the rest of the league who may have thought we would do things slightly more modestly. In just one season Huddlestone has likely to have at least doubled his value and the price we payed then looks like a total seal especially with some of the crazy deals that have been flying around recently.

If a deal like this did go ahead then I would fully expect it to happen much later in the closed season when other clubs have made all of their signings.

Honestly, no. I can't see us making a late deal for someone like Huddlestone for a few reasons. Firstly, we've spent quite a bit early in the window. Secondly, players like Huddlestone aren't available every window. Especially available to clubs like ours. The nearest to Huddlestone would be a signing from a top 6 team like Rodwell, Sinclair, Fletcher etc.

You never know... Although i can only think of a few positions where we'd be able to do this... a top quality CB or LB... cant think of anywhere else on the pitch where we need a "huddlestone" type transfer.

I would be surprised considering how much we have already spent and how much we are trying to spend in regards to Dawson, Robertson, and Maguire.

Seems we don't have a great negotiator in our corner.

We've already done it bringing Snodgrass in.

He can play that role but his natural position is out on the wing. Bruce himself said we were short of wide options last season so brought in Ince & Snoddy.

Bruce also said in a recent interview that if we can, we'll try to bring in a central midfielder, which im guessing will be an attacking central midfielder, like koren was.

That was my first thought but now that people are tossing out 10 mill in the championship for strikers, and 14 mill for people with less goals than Snodgrass I am beginning to think that we got a decent deal. This giant pile of PL money that shot up last season seems to finally be inflating salaries and bid offers.

We have Huddlestone, Quinn, Melyer and Livermore, so I'd say we need one more. I'd have thought the natural replacement to Koren would be Aluko, who would play as an advanced player behind the strikers.

We could do with another spurs outcast. Wonder how much they want for Holtby?

And if we could hijack that sigurddsson deal...

I thought signing Ince was supposed to be the 'blow your socks off' signing.
I haven't seen much of him but apparently he is a chip off the old block and plays a lot like his dad.

If you look closely they are kinda like one & the same but differing types as they seem none to dissimilar from one another other than being Insantly recognizable to one another but seemingly rather different from others in a perspective from either another position or someone elses perception Patty. I can see the similarity thou appearances can be deceptive and not at all as they appear to be.

We're going to need extra time and penalties.
