Shocking and awful news for everyone on the plane, what is this world coming to...

As soon as I heard that two of the victims were Newcastle supporters I thought about the Newcastle Not606 board as you have always been a warm and friendly bunch.

Condolences to their families and friends.

Some Toon lads have set up a page to raise money for funeral costs and also to produce a flag to be carried to all away games as a mark of respect to John & Liam.
Here's the link for anyone wishing to donate.

    Hi All,

There are many things in life which we all take a step back and can't understand why the happen. I think and I'm sure you do this is one. Two lads, who loved following NUFC both home and away, tragically took from friends and family. As a mark of respect, we would like to have a flag made to take to all away games to celebrate their lives. The money will also go towards flowers to be taking to the funeral by close friends and (if the families accept) towards funeral costs. R.I.P lads, love the toon army.

This news shocked the football family and just when you think things couldn't get any worse for their families it now transpires that witnesses saw the troops going though their suitcases. One witness said they took John's binoculars out of the case, but when they found the lens broken they just threw them on the grounds. Not only are they murdering bastards they are also ghouls.

    R.I.P. John & Liam

What a superb show of support Sunderland have been with their donations 10k and growing by the hour, I believe we should do something to mark the situation on derby day to show our unity on this.

Excellent stuff. Can't speak highly enough of the reactions and coming together of both fan bases.

I think that plans are afoot from both sides of the divide to join up to do something for the lads.

Sunderland held a minutes silence, impeccably observed before their preseason game today.

Fans of both our clubs are well aware that some things are more important than football. RIP Lads.

Even as a Sunderland fan, and as a Sunderland fan living on Tyneside who knows the reality that we don't 'hate' each other, that we don't wanna go round knocking each other out etc, I'm staggered at this.

10k in a day, from a one club forum, it's just unreal, and really does reiterate my pride to be from this region.

When I hoyed a fiver in it was at £800 and even then I thought 'fantastic', to now see it at 10k I'm stunned.

Mate it's unbelievable! I've read through those threads on rtg with a tear in my eye. I'm honestly go smacked by the response. I hope a decent sized delegation from that board go to the ground with their red and white shirts on to lay the wreath. I'm positive they'd get an excellent response.

RIP lads. All they wanted to do was watch their team play, or go on a placement for a year and do something they'll never forget.

Instead they get caught up in ****ing pointless conflicts that **** innocent people's lives up. And for what?

Rest in peace from a Leeds fan....

What the Sunderland lads have done on the SMB board is second to none. I can only applaud and admire them for their lead.
