http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28359754 Oriol Romeu has signed a three-year contract extension at Chelsea. The 22-year-old midfielder, who joined the Blues from Barcelona in 2011, is now tied to the London club until 2017. Romeu spent last season on loan at Valencia but returned to Chelsea this summer and played in Wednesday night's 5-0 friendly win over Wycombe. That was the Spaniard's first appearance for the Blues since he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury at Sunderland in December 2012. Got to say, havent really been tracking his progress of late as I dont follow La Liga. Is this kid any good (ie Are we likely to ever play him?) or is he destined for the Britannia?
I'm surprised. Always felt he was just short of the required standard, but obviously Jose sees something. Regardless, good on him - a useful member of the squad, especially if we are going to offload Mikel.
He will never be a world beater but i always quite liked him and think he has something to offer. Wonder if the new contract is just to increase the transfer fee?
Have never seen this kid properly. Hope he turns out to be a good one, and nice to see him at least fit to play again.
Thought he was quality in his early days for us, breath of fresh air in defensive midfield with his short passing. Sustained an injury and didn't really regain form. Didn't watch him for Valencia but the kid is only 22 and if he can find the form he did when he first joined he'll be a top talent. Surely this signals the end for Mikel too?
I read on twitter from an "ITK" that we've lowered the asking price for Mikel to 12M but he only wants to sign for a "Top" club. The guy's transfer record is pretty good and i'd say he gets about 80-85% correct. I have seen a lot of reports linking Mikel with other sides and don't expect him to be here by the end of the transfer window. Agree with Drogs, thought Romeu was v good before his injury, he got plenty of games so hopefully it won't just be a contract to then go and sell him on!
Yeah it looks like mikels on the way out drogs, probably the best gor him to go and play some football anyways!!
I feel like its a contract so we can sell rather than let him leave on a free...nevertheless rather him than signing Tiago -give the lad a go.
