http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/spor...002?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter QPR have set a deadline for £10million striker Loic Remy to decide whether he is staying or going. Chairman Tony Fernandes revealed Hoops have received offers for the France World Cup international - but hinted that reported main suitors Arsenal is not one of them. Remy has a clause in his contract that allows to him leave for £10m, but has so far turned everyone down. However, the club supremo admits he wants the 27-year-old that he persuaded to come while they played a computer game to commit or ship out when he returns from holiday after his stint in Brazil. “I’d like to keep Remy. He’s proven himself,” said Fernandes. “I think he’s turned down some clubs that are not dissimilar to QPR - so why go? If it’s one that’s bigger then we won’t stand in his way. “But I’m not going to wait until two days before the transfer window closes for someone to come in for him, because we’ll be in trouble if that’s the case. “He’s on holiday at the moment but we need to sit down and talk, and maybe play a bit of FIFA 14, or even 15, while we’re chatting.” The chairman does wants Adel Taarabt to become this season’s Joey Barton and reinvent himself in a hooped shirt. Last August, Barton was a reluctant returnee from a loan spell at Marseille but became on the of the clubs’s success stories in promotion back to the Premier League. His midfield team-mate has also been out on loan, first to Fulham, and then to AC Milan but is currently back training with Rangers. “I would like Adel to stay because he’s had a great history with us,” Fernandes said. “He’s never done it in the Premier League. He’s done it in flashes, although he is one of the best footballers I’ve seen, but it’s up to him. “I think it would be great if he stayed. But if there’s one message I want to get out there, it’s that I want players who want to play for us.”
However, it looks over and out for midfielder Gary O’Neil, who turned out 29 times as part of the Championship promotion squad. The 31-year-old is also training with Rangers, but Fernandes admitted he was unlikely to figure in the Premier League for Rs. Fernandes added: “At the moment we haven’t offered him a contract.”
That article says 3 things. 1. He'd like to keep Remy. 2. He'd like to keep Taartabt and 3. Gary O'Neill is going.
Good comments from TF.......Leaves everyone in no doubt as to where the club stands.......fully support this stance....
Some further quotes: http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/football-wls-tony-fernandes-on-loic-remy “I’d like to keep Remy and I think I’ve made that clear, but he has to want to stay,” said Fernandes. “He’s turned down some clubs. Some clubs have come in and he’s said ‘No, I’d rather stay at QPR’. “If it’s a club that’s not dissimilar to QPR, then why go? If it’s a club that’s much bigger then I won’t hold him back. “The decision has to be fairly soon. We don’t want to be without a striker. My position on Remy is that I’m not going to wait until two days before the transfer window [closes]. “I signed Loic and he did a great job for QPR and for Newcastle. I don’t think he would only stay for the money. He wants to be France’s top striker and believes in his ability.” Remy is due to report for training when he returns from holiday, while Adel Taarabt is already training with Rangers after also ending last season on loan, at AC Milan. Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar, who ended last term on loan at Toronto, is likely to cut his ties with Rangers, but the future of Taarabt – the star of the 2010/11 promotion-winning campaign – is less certain. “I would like him [Taarabt] to stay because he’s had a great history with us,” said Fernandes. “He’s never done it in the Premier League – he’s done it in flashes – but he is probably one of the best players I’ve ever seen. “But it’s up to him – whether he wants to do it or not. From a professional standpoint I think it would be great if he stayed. “But I only want players who want to get out there and play for us. That’s my message.”
Good words from TF re Adel as would love it if he stayed and put a few eggs on faces on here .. the brainwashed ones
Would love for both Remy and Taarabt to stay. Remy is crucial I think. Its not often finishers like him come around, and we currently have both him and Austin. They would form a great partnership I am sure. Although, I would assume we will play with 1 up front mostly.
If what Warnock says in his book is true, Adel is a horror of a player with a shocking attitude. Whilst I cannot recall being quite so entertained by any other R player when seeing Adel at his best, if the payoff is his destroying the dressing room for the remaining 75% or more of the time, I'd rather he went.
Every QPr fan in their right mind would say they want Adel to get his head right and play for us again because he wants to..A happy Adel is a massive boost for us because he has bags of ability.
The only problem is Adel doesn't seem to want to be at the club. He has had chances at a number of clubs now - plenty of chances to make something of himself. Just seems it ain't gonna happen. Bloody shame... he really does have bags, and bucket loads, of ability. But ain't worth a pinch without good attitude and dedication to his craft. So sad.
