Ah well fair enough, you all think it's ok. I shall relay that message on to my next patient who has their leg amputated. I'm sure your messages of ciggies are ok just don't drink too much booze or get caught using crack will provide some comfort.
Chocolate isn't good. Cycling could cause a crash and you could break your neck. You could do the same jogging. What would you do, have everyone wrapped up in bubble wrap their entire life and fed fruit and veg through a tube to make sure they can't choke on their food?
Forget lectures and pictures on the side of the packet. Just make the daft bastard work on a terminal cancer ward for a week then see if he still wants to smoke. About 10 years ago, I was a 20 a day man with **** all will power until I watched a close relative get destroyed by lung cancer in the space of 6 months. Stopped on the spot and never gave it another thought
Ah an over reaction to an alleged over reaction. I take it you're a smoker? If smoking does no harm then you should let your young child do it. I take it you will encourage her to become a smoker?
Obviously smoking 20 a day isn't a good idea. But Wilshere certainly isn't smoking 20 a day. IMO the odd *** is no worse then the odd greasy fry up or a few beers. How boring would life be if we 100% of time we ate and drank 100% clean. I'm stick of this nanny state we're living. Let people enjoy there life's the way they want. It's not as if the people aren't paying for it. The tax on tobacco and alcohol is around 5 times the amount spent on treating smoking and alcohol related conditions
More likely to be through diabetes. Yet there are huge numbers of NHS staff, nursing and non-nursing, who are more overweight than the people being lectured about it. I don't smoke, incidentally.
Growing up in our circle there were 2 who never even tried a cigarette. One, a keen sportsman, died in his forties of lung cancer. Had always worked in local government in offices which didn't allow smoking. It is just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. My non-smoking grandad died at 70, my 50 Park Drive a day plus a pipe grandad went at 91. Churchill, who ate the wrong foods, drank like a fish and smoked was also 91 when he went. Hitler, a non-smoking, teetotal vegetarian was a shambling wreck at 56 when he topped himself.
Massive over reaction I think also. He could be photographed doing far much worse then enjoying a cigarette.
Smoking increases your risk of cancer, that's a fact. But so does fatty foods, sun bathing, pollution, BBQ smoke, alcohol, chemicals in cleaning products, burnt meat...etc They are all choices we are entitled to make and unless you avoid all of the above its hypocritical to condemn someone for smoking. Would you let your daughter out in the sun? Stand near a BBQ? Drink alcohol? Live in a polluted city?
It's not just the risk of cancer it increases. It's all the others. Stroke, MI's, peripheral vascular disease generally. We are not talking about the other things here, just smoking. If you smoke and that's uour choice but you smoke with your kids nearby where is their choice?
The health risks associated with the other things listed are not exclusive to cancer either. Obviously smoking around children is wrong and takes away their choice, but that's another issue all together and not what this thread has been debating. This is about the hypocrisy of criticising smokers when the same people take similar unnecessary risks in their own life.
The o/p was about someone refusing to condem Wilshere for smoking. Nothing about hypocrisy and comparing it to other things.
This story was in the daily mail if anybody wants to see the pictures. He was also seen pretty much kissing Joe Hart whilst Hart had his arms around him in the pool. Passing a drink mouth to mouth or something. I'd post the link but I'm in my phone atm.
Joe Hart is in Portugal, he was in the gym yesterday morning. And the Peterborough team were on the beach yesterday afternoon. Football types seem to like it round here.
"Ashley Cole came out in defence of Wilshere earlier this week." I KNEW it! http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/arsenal/news/mourinho-criticises-wilshere-for-smoking_165748.html
Here it is: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ay-Arsenal-star-Joe-Hart-party-Las-Vegas.html There's loads of pics of the smoking and the mouth to mouth ness
Kinell. You'd think that the money they're on they'd be able to afford to go somewhere with a bigger pool.
