From what I have read - low center of gravity, fast, decent in air, clever movement, not so clinical, needs to work on his consistency, offside too much. Some people think he is fairly strong, some think he is a bit weak and needs to do some weights.

The rumour is that once NUFC have him in the bag they are not intending to spend on any other position than one more striker. At this point we're going to go all out for Lacazette.

Unfortunately the most popular phrases for him coming out of France are "average, overpriced and not prolific".

I'd be happy with one more in given the business we are doing.
I honestly think Cisse will come good again too so we should be ok in the striking department.

There seems to be a lot of rumours that we are interested in Benteke and that Villa are willing to sell. It's not just twitter as The Chronicle thinks there is something in it, though I doubt their opinion is worth much. It would be a large departure from our usual transfer style, but so far this whole summer window has been so who knows.

Albert the numbers are no better and could actually be worse than thus time last year. Cabaye gone Debuchy gone mbiwa sissoko and Ben arfa on the way. It's all good signing 5 or 6 replacements but we will still have a ****e squad that can't cope with 2 or 3 injuries and we will still have a net spend of zero I.guarantee.

I really hope that this isn't the only striker we sign this summer. He's good, but not Remy quality in the slightest. We need a goalscorer up top. I say we should be breaking out the cash and trying to get Ba or Remy first.

We will sign someone else but we won't pay the top money for a proven striker all uou can do is trust we find a player like remy and remember we nearly did get him

Yeah, it's been disheartening to read some of the French critics opinions. Olivier Bernard has no doubts though:

@seedorf77 rivière is very much a very fast player and can finish well #greatsigning

Would anyone take Ings as the other striker to buy.

    I would.

Read various mentions on internet last night. Don't know how much of a chance it would have but think he's in his final year of his contract.

Riviere has completed his medical apparently and is due to be announced along with Janmaat.

According to Graham Bailey we are also already in talks to sign our mystery number 1 striker:

    Graeme Bailey ‏@GraemeBailey 5h

Deal for Emmanuel Riviere agreed. Third deal in as many days for Newcastle. Talks already underway for another striker.

Yes I would. Not the proven PL goalscorer that most are calling for but very much a NUFC type of signing. Ideally I'd like Ings PLUS a proven PL goalscorer but that's just greedy!

Riviere will make an excellent replacement for Shola:

I think those running the club know that every team needs a player that the fans use as a scapegoat - usually because he's ****. Now that Shola's away, I think they are bringing this lad in to take over his crown of thorns. Us fans would be lost without someone on the pitch to target our abuse at. You at least get the feeling if he doesn't get some early goals the fans already have both barrels loaded and that's before he's even signed.

    Or maybe he's mint?

Never mind a striker, after getting caught out with another cross ball against Oldham that resulted in a goal we desperately need a commanding CB and even more so if we lose Mbiwa. What have we got, Colo ( aging fast ), Wilo ( Mr Plod ) Saylor ( Injury prone ) Streete & Good both untried. Last years failings have not been addressed yet.

Hmm, wasn't exactly our 1st choice back four when that goal went in....

I agree, though, ideally it would be nice to add a top class CB to the ranks, mostly for some pace which I think we have been caught out with over the last couple of seasons.
