Not really CA, we were there to keep the peace and we treated people as we found them. Most were accepting of it and some were thankful, we never took sides, that I can guarantee. Religion was NEVER mentioned that I recall and the closest we came to fighting with locals was the local UDR unit who were a bunch of thieves and layabouts. Never really got to know them, never really wanted to.
My unit did'nt and no one from any other Regiment that I knew did either. We were like Referees, people on both sides thought we were bent.
Balls dev you know it Dev. Fru. Special branch. Bloody sundy. Ballymurphy. Collusion. Etc Give it a rest FFS.
Ok it was a massive conspiracy, we all looked out for Catholics to pick on, even the Catholic Soldiers. You got me.
@Ciaran When the Brits first arrived they knew **** all about what was going on. They were young lads, with no jobs at home, in a strange land. They even got tay in our house. Very soon the scum in Stormont turned this army into their 'army'. They were used by the ' Establishment '.
I watched the thing about the marines last night. Interestingly enough they all had to swear allegiance to the Queen.
