If he is banned from all football related activity? How come he could complete a transfer to barca? Divvent get it?
Officially the transfer can't be completed until the ban is over, they've even been banned from unveiling him as a Barca player. That's why he hasn't officially signed and all press states 'have agreed a deal'.
I don't think Liverpool will have the money yet, no. They've been very clever, the image of him in a Barca shirt is completely unbranded with no supporting press release. FIFA can't ban the lad from wearing a replica shirt.
Didn't they say that the punishment would not effect any transfer while the ban was on. Just my opinion but if it did that would he punishing Liverpool and Barcelona which FIFA couldn't do as it was done internationally. Also, if he can move after the ban, surely that is after the transfer window ends so he would be in limbo till the Jan window as he couldn't play for barca and they would not like him playing for Liverpool.
Legally, you cannot prevent a person from earning a living, so he can get a new contract if he can get out of the old one. It's a job at the end of the day. FIFA are just a global body, like the FIA and the IOC - doesn't mean that there couldn't be others. If you play for a club that comes under FIFA rules, then your players have to abide by them, but there's nothing stopping you going to another club - still have to abide by the rules, though, and the punishments transfer.
The terminology was ****ed up from the start. These people are supposed to have the best lawyers yet they come up with ****e like this. What is 'activity' after all ...... watching Sky Sports News, playing Footie Manager, posting on 606
I do believe one of the questions Liverpool asked FIFA was 'can he play FIFA on the Xbox?'. EDIT: It was the PFA who asked. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28163286
I have probably missed summit here but I thought Barca had all transfer activity banned for either two transfer windows or two seasons. Has this changed?
It's just poor terminology. If he trains with a football in his back garden will they extend his ban? If he trains without a football in a stadium like Hull, which has rugby & football, is that prohibited? It's nonsense, they should've just given him a playing ban without trying to be clever .......... it'll come back and bite them
