I can fully understand how Newcastle can attract players of this calibre! I just cannot understand how they can attract them whilst Pardew is manager! They must be getting a bumper pay rise to compensate for working under that turd!!!!
Why should it bother us what the ****e up the road are doing,it's what we are doing or lack of it that concerns me.
This. I cringe every time I see a thread about them on the Sunderland board. To be fair, they very rarely make threads about Sunderland and that's the way it should be.
I agree with this up to a point! Because I also believe that there is nothing wrong with occasionally gossiping amongst friends about my arsehole next door neighbour who I just don't get along with and would like to see suffer but not go as far as wishing death upon him!
That's the top and bottom of it. I've got quite a smug feeling over our signings. If we get Janmaat who's close to signing, a striker and centre half, I'll be very pleased with the window. I wonder if Terry's changed his mind about us being certainties to go down?
Not yet mate. Pardew will need to prove he's going to be able to get good football out of a new look side. Still you await a Cabaye replacement, if you get Grenier I'd probably be inclined to say you'll do well next season, but if you're starting the season with your current squad, absolutely not, where's your goals coming from and who's going to command your back four? Coloccini is an intelligent player individually, but he's no organiser, his back four are always all over the shop. Ashley's on the right track now though with signings like Cabella, although you'll probably need some English players sooner or later to just show some fight, these frogs don't know what to do when the going gets tough.
It's a signing for profit, as per though, clearly. As you mentioned, without a Cabaye replacement there lack of fluidity will remain, unless that is Colbacks job, in which case they are ****ed.
Of course it is, but in terms of them moving in the right direction for next season, he's a great buy on paper. I've no doubt Ashley will be selling him on for profit as soon as he's attracting the bigger teams. I don't think that Carr deserves the credit for this guy though, he's not a 'hidden gem' as they all like to talk about. Replacing Cabaye will be tough no matter who they buy, the guy played like an experienced 35 year old and Ashley only buys players under 27!
Carr is a myth mate, none of his signings have been hidden gems, I asked them the question, name one and all that comes back is the god awful Tiote. They buy well, but the credit isn't with the scouting team for me, it's with the money men getting the deals done, and paying full amount up top and forcing down fees. Cabaye was French footballer of the year, Debuchy was a full international, as were Sissokho & Ben Arfa. Cabella has been around for 2-3 years and Arsenal looked a couple years back, again he's known, Cisse had been linked with several English clubs for a long while. Carr has found nobody, he just happens to be scout of a club making solid signings, and getting credit.
We're not finished spending yet though, we'll definitely buy a striker (or two) and a centre half. I'm impressed with the way the club is doing business for a change. They're hanging on to Debuchy until we've signed a replacement. Mind you, Pardew could still louse it up by playing them all at left back.
De Jong, Colback, Perez are all very average players. You have signed one player that will improve your team. That is so far of course.
I'm happy so far mate. Cabella and Jamaat (if we get him) are quality. Now if we'd signed a reserve keeper, a championship midfielder and Billy Jones...........
I've no doubt that you've not finished spending pal, you won't be finished selling either no doubt. I've always said I'll change my mind when I see what signings Pardew has to work with, I just made that prediction on the back of how you finished 13/14 and the squad you had to work with. Cabella's a player we've been heavily linked with in the past as well, I'm interested to see how he gets on, hopefully he won't waste under your manager.
