This time last year Gareth Bale's transfer was dragging on, and not until late in the transfer market the transfer went through. Sadly, Liverpool are in the same position a year after. Tottenham invested almost "all" the proceed of Bale's sale in new players that failed to gel together immediately. We do not want to be in the same situation. Quality players are very hard to come by, if available, their prices are exorbitant. We fished second last season, and we would like to go one better next season. We have been linked with so many players, some in the premiership, and some outside the premiership. Those in the premiership have the premiership experience, but they are not famous names like Suarez: can they raise their games if they come to Liverpool?. Those outside the premiership are better players, but are they going to fit in into the premiership? We have been told that we would be allowed to invest "all" the proceed of Suarez sale in new players. 'Prudent' is the magic word. We are now at a cross Road !.
Tottenham's mistake was Baldini spending huge money on players AVB didnt want and didnt fit AVB's system. Making his system not work.
And buying ( and paying over the odds ) for biggish name players with no prem experience. Soldado being a prime example of why we should be careful buying 'names' In fact their only successful purchase was their cheapest and someone a lot of us wanted at Liverpool. Eriksen.
Some will fail and some will flourish that's a certainty, but I trust Rodgers and his "vision" of how we want to play and also his judgment on what players will fit that vision. James Rodriguez though...... That would be nice.
We are certainly getting too many forward options, and yet to get a right back. Depending on what happens to Coates, we could probably do with another fullback too.
