Francis vs. Benedict: Which Pope Is More Soccer? please log in to view this image BENEDICT: He supports FC Bayern Munich. This pope is no fair-weather World Cup fan â heâs here for the long haul. please log in to view this image FRANCIS: Then again, Pope Francis loves a club, too â San Lorenzo â and he has the jersey to prove it. He also held their trophy after the Argentine championship, which he probably excitedly journaled about later. Verdict: FRANCIS While we appreciate that Pope Benedict XVI enjoys soccer, we donât quite feel his passion for the sport matches that of his successor. Heâs the casual fan to Pope Francisâ fanboy â and watching our current pope nerd out is just adorable. http://www.thewire.com/culture/2014/07/francis-vs-benedict-which-pope-is-more-soccer/374243/
Argentina this tournament have been like arsenal in the 90s - solid boring defensive play, hope to nick a goal with some skill then sit on the 1-0. I will concede messi is better than Merson however
It was a nasty clash, football is way behind other sports with head injuries. They make them take tests in the summer and only allow them to return when the brainwaves match the normal ones. Maschareno is still playing with a concussion now and another bang to the head could be really serious, trust me, I've seen two flyers captains who struggled to lead a normal life due to head injuries.
At least we have Lawro on BBC1 so they will have 90% of viewers. If they had choosen Phil Neville then they would of had 10% of viewers.
Despite their "boring" defensive record, Argentina could easily be a couple of goals up by now. Germany really not performing and could/should be a man down after that studs up challenge.
