Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is looking to Demba Ba of Cheslea in a bid to help boost his attacking options ahead of the new season.

It appears that Pardew’s top two targets are players that have already done the business up front for Newcastle. Ba scored 29 goals in one and a half seasons at Newcastle before moving to Chelsea for £7.5 million in January 2012. Pardew’s other alternative is to try and convince Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy to return to Newcastle after a successful loan spell at the club last season.

Remy has already stated his intention to join a Champions League club for the coming season, and appears likely to get his wish with Arsenal having stepped up their interest recently. Pardew is hopeful that the lack of any deal so far for Remy may push the striker back to Newcastle if he is unable to get the move he wants.

Ba has been told by Jose Mourinho that he is wanted at Chelsea for next season, but given his lack of appearances so far in a blue shirt, he could be tempted by more regular football. Should Chelsea sign more strikers to push him further down the pecking order Pardew could have a better chance of landing the Senegalese striker once again.

Chelsea will struggle to move on Fernando Torres due to his huge wages at the club, so may be willing to accept a deal for Ba to cut down on the wage bill should they get the strikers in that they want.

I'd be happy with Ba or Remy back at the club. After a few weeks of nothing the club seem to be attacking the transfer market! I'd be over the moon with Cabella, Janmaart, and Grenier. And another striker. And centre half. <ok>

(Don't like Remy personally though, we seem to be a fall back option for him)

If we got Ba I would be over the moon. Loved Demba big time whilst he was here.

Chelsea have added Costa, Lukaku is unlikely to be loaned out again, Torres is difficult to offload so Demba gets even further down the pecking order, he'll either be loaned out, Everton are keen apparently, or sold in my opinion, as far as we are concerned he knows the club and gets goals, would be a good addition along with other options being chased by the club for next season especially as he is a proven PL striker.
