Chelsea and Man City would have coped better with similar injuries, but they were unlucky. Ozil wasn't quite as good as expected, and Giroud was only great in the first few months. If they bought Suarez rather than Ozil, they would have won the league.
The thing with Wenger is that something will go wrong around Xmas / new year and the problem can be fixed in the window but he won't make the decision and they'll tail off in Feb again and again and again
