Price is irrelevant mate. He's exactly what we need so pay the money! Realistically I can see us getting him for 3-4 million
I think we were hoping to offload Diakite as part if the deal. It looks like weve given up on that now.
Doesn't really matter how much, it's going to be good value when you consider 23m for Luke Shaw and Alonso was better last season. I'm guessing about 1.5m plus Diakite.
Thought Diakite was decent when he played last season Wouldn't bother me at all that we keep him Just hope we do manage to get Alonso as well
I wouldnt mind either. Him and Roberge had a cracking game against Everon. However I still think one of them needs to move on this season. We need to sign a quality CB and have Brown, O'Shea and Roberge/Diakite battling to partner him.
Yep underland have submitted a 'formal offer' to bring Marcos Alonso back to Sunderland on a permanent deal and the Spaniard has told Fiorentina he wants the move, according to Sky Sports News. The left back was a huge hit on Wearside last season after a January loan move, making massive contributions to both the successful Premier League survival bid and run to the League Cup final. Securing him on a permanent basis has been one of Gus Poyet's top summer priorities, with the Sunderland coach recently telling Spanish newspaper Marca that he was 'doing everything he could' to make the move happen. Mobido Diakite, who went on loan in the opposite direction, has been suggested as a possible make-weight in any deal, though it's unclear if that will be happening. In fact, very few details are out there at all at this stage. Hopefully there is plenty in this story. Sunderland have been making specific efforts to keep information coming out of the club regarding transfers pretty tight this summer, so this being stated pretty matter-of-factly by someone like SSN is probably significant.
it certainly seemed like the lad wnated to stay and was loving it up here from whats on his twitter. we know exactly what were getting from him so its a no brainer for me
I expect the club was waiting to be invited to bid which is progress if my guess is true. We've let 'interest' in other fullbacks 'slip' to hurry Fiorentina into negotiations. It's possible we're also 'feeding the press the same line regarding other forwards in an attempt to get Borini for the right money. We've never been canny in the transfer market and it's about time that changed. If we could get Graham off the wage bill and bring Alonso in, for around the same amount, I'd be a very happy lad.
It`s true that mind. We`ve brought in so many duck-eggs it`s incredible. The big difference with these two is we`ve actually had a preview. Counts for a hell of a lot.
I agree with J. Thought Diakite was OK and would prefer him in the team to JOS. As Connor showed you need a run of games to show your worth and Dicky hasn't had that with us.
It certainly looks like we're playing the game properly this window, I think you're spot on about feeding the press false targets. No coincidence that at a time we intend to bid for Borini we've been linked with Sow, Adebayor, Eto and Austin all at once. Not seen anybody else linked with Borini either. I think we could be playing liverpool and won't be paying them the 12m they want.
I don't doubt for a split second we'll get the lad, he wants to be here, we want him, Gus wants him. I'm sure the lad will have kept an eye on forums etc and the support for bringing him in is unanimous. Re Diakite, a) he could be decent given a chance, and b) if not Fiorentina, we can easily sell him to a Serie A club for £1-5-2 million, recouping a big chunk of the Alonso fee. All of this makes perfect sense, hopefully it's concluded quickly.
Again, we just want that one done, or left. It's more a case I think of Liverpool telling Fabio he's not needed, then we can close that one off. Both are young, talented lads, who bought into the shirt and have greap potential to develop, both will be great additions, we've seen that already.
