Also, backing up my rant about plastic fans yesterday, the comments on the Puma youtube channel right now are hysterical.

    Much dumbness
    such clulessness
    very plastic

We've been through some hard times since we moved to a new stadium and the club have had to stick to a strict budget but I think the events of today have proved Arsenal are back in the big time

    Amen to that.

For all the whinging from some fans, the club have been very consistent in their message, that they had to build a secure financial future before they could go spending again. They have delivered on this now and it's credit to people like Wenger and Gazidis that we're in the position we are now.

Fans may have whinged but in all honesty they only wanted what was best for the club.I think the problem stems from that none of us knew that moving to the new stadium would impact us so hard financially. It was the board that said moving to the new stadium would allow us to compete with any club financially. They forgot to mention it would take eight years.

Just bear in mind that 4-6 key players are always out injured on an average day.

I think the global financial crisis of 2008 slowed things down a bit. It seemingly hurt the income the club were expecting to get from property sales.

We'll certainly didn't get the money that was expected from the sale of Highbury

That's how I'd shape up, although still not totally convinced with Cazorla on the wing. Maybe be bold and go for the Ox? Also, I know I'm being greedy, but a new top out and out striker with Sanchez and Walcott on the wings would be amazing!

I think the board said right from tge start that spending would be restricted and wed have to rely on youth - but straight away chelsea got oil rich and changed tge complextion of football not just in the pl but in europe as well.
Then just as the flats were completed and we expected a huge cash boost from the highbury flats sale then the recession kicked in. And of course then man c happened ...

There were lots of different factors that impacted on the last eight years, the global financial landscape, reduced income from Highbury sale and then City and Chelsea with their obscene spending which completely skewed the transfer market. But you're right that the club did say that they would have to invest in youth and develop players rather than buy ready made ones.

I know some fans got frustrated, I was one of them. But what I thought was unnecessary was the slating of our players and manager and constant running down of the club, when in fact they were probably punching above their weight given the circumstances.

Anyway, that all looks like water under the bridge now. We have Ozil, Sanchez and maybe one more big marquee signing this summer that will be the three world class players we've all been calling for. We have a major trophy under our belts again and we have a stadium that's nearly paid off and the ability to compete in the transfer market with the big spenders.

I sincerely hope that this season will see Arsenal fans unite again and get behind the manager and team, because this could be a really exciting season ahead.

Hope so! It's certainly another big move in the right direction.

21 goals and 15 assists last Season (mainly played out wide) - the fact he's only 25 also means he is still improving.

I think we're a couple more signings from a really top squad.

I do think our need for another out and out striker is less prominent now purely because Alexis can play down the middle and either flank and will score goals from either position.

    Still If I was Wenger....

Huntelaar - He's 30 but still lethal in front of goal.
Sami Khedira (or Lars Bender) - Tall athletic and still young. Think he would do a good job for us. Seems to perform in the big games.
RB- Debouchey seems like a decent option.

Also keep Vermaelen!! - he's a quality player. Just give him more games.

    ------------------Szcezney-------------------
    Debouchey----BFG-----Koscielney----Gibbs
    ------------Khedira-----Ramsey-------------
    ---------------------Ozil----------------------
    Walcott-----Giroud/Huntelarr---------Sanchez

    Leaves a strong bench too.
