I think you are neglecting the fact that we had all but two of our winnable games in the first half of the season, where as from January onwards all but 2 of our home games were against the top 10.

That judgement is just based on him not scoring. There's so much more to football than the one stat you're judging him on. From watching him play, it's obvious he's got plenty of strengths to his game.

Sagbo is a very good player but shouldn't be playing up top on his own without someone who can score in behind. I think with these attacking based players we have now we'll see the best of Sagbo, whereas last year he was holding the ball up to players who score once in a blue moon.

Personally I think it is critically important that we sign a quality left-back.

Several games in the second half of the season, this was our weak spot, and sides should be more clued up about us this season and those with any nous about them will target this position unless we improve it.

Another central defender would be nice, as would a striker, but for me, we absolutely need a decent left-back.

Sorry but I can't agree with you PLT. I have yet to see any of this guy's 'strengths'. He belongs in Thailand with that other 'tower of strength' - Jay Simpson (who cannot even make the first team over there these days).

Well, you and I may be experts at Football Manager and the likes but in real life we wouldn't have a clue. Steve Bruce is a very good Manager and if he can't get anything out of this bloke then nobody can. This "hold-up" player business is a myth perpetrated by fans because the simple fact is he can't score. If a player 'holds up' the ball for his fellow strikers to get into position surely the defence will have time to get back and mark them! It makes no sense. I think you are joining dots that aren't there Jezz.

    No it really isn't.

"A striker is only there to score goals" - that's a myth perpetuated by fans who don't understand the role. There are plenty of examples of hold-up players picked in favour of out-and-out poachers, by people like Steve Bruce who as you said, knows what he's on about.

He scored a crucial equaliser at Brighton. No Sagbo = No FA Cup Final.

His finishing is actually really good, he hardly ever misses and he scores from all kinds of situations. He just doesn't get in the positions anywhere near as much as our better strikers.

Are we talking about the same player, Sagbo! He's only scored TWICE!

That's wrong, but anyway, how many times has he missed a good chance?

Why would you assume that because he hasn't scored a lot he must be a poor finisher?

I remember this guy from the Hull City Mad boards. He constantly has these arguments.

Basically every striker who doesn't score at least one goal per game is pants. All he ever goes on about is stats, and by stats I mean goals scored. There's nothing more to a forward's game. It's all about the goals scored.

    Did my bloody head in.

We should look to offload Davies, he didn't score 10 goals and we let in more goals than we scored with him in defence. Same goes for McGregor, who should score at least twice in the season and the rest of the defence who should score at least 10 each.

Huddlestone barely scored, he's ****, I doubt we could give him away to north ferriby but if anyone's willing to take him snap their hand off. Aluko is ****, he only scored one goal. Brady is a **** championship player, he only scored 3 goals in almost as many games before getting injured, get rid. Jelavic and Long won't score 20 goals each so get rid. Livermore didn't score 10 goals, we should send him back. Snodgrass needs to improve on his 7 goals else he'll need to be on his way too.

Hopefully we can offload all our players and get some new signings in who can score goals and line up like this.

    Fettis
    Alves Terry Turner Alba
    Toure Lampard
    Robben Messi Ronaldo
    Suarez

All players who can score some goals. I'd be happy with that.

    5 times actually.

Lots of those appearances are either on the wing or very short 2/3 minute cameo appearances to help run the clock down at the end of a game or whatever.

As I asked you earlier and you didn't answer (presumably because you couldn't) just who would you have us sign? Throw some names out there, who's going to score enough goals to make you happy who's affordable?

Are you talking about this Steve Bruce...

Bruce hails Sagbo's impact at Hull

"Strikers are judged on goals and he has to put that in his locker, but his work-rate and ability to hold the ball up is fantastic,"

"He can only get better. If he stays with it, his game will only get better because it's difficult for any player to come into the Premier League, but he's done it very well.

"You have to admit you're always taking a bit of a gamble when you're signing somebody from France. Can they adapt quickly and settle down?

"It's a different game. I was there last week again and it's very different. Yannick is adapting well and let's hope that continues through the rest of the season."

There's a reason Owen liked playing with Heskey, and a reason Heskey kept playing for England.

Yes, because heskey couldn't score so Owen got to score them all instead.
