SACROSANCTUS 25/1 Epsom 8:50 has won twice over C&D off marks of 83 and 84 and second once off 83. He races tomorrow off 80 and with nine taking part he looks well worth an each way punt. Silvestre de Sousa is a handy enough looking jockey booking.

Looks distinctly regressive that one Stick, and he's also not one to trust ew either - he has more wins than places, and that points towards a lack of resolution.

But as I said to Chelsea last week - I can't have you winning and not me - so I've joined in for tiny stakes, at 20-1 - no 25's available, you must have 'em scared mate :D

5.30 Newmarket -Doctor Parkes 6/1 ew

2nd in this last year off a 6lb higher mark and the look has been laid out for this, has been in decent form this season and with Ryan on board a place ( in which I have had 2days of seconds and thirds) one more place should be at least on the cards

3.15 Newmarket- What About Carlo 7/1 ew

Won 2/3 this year including a decent race at Epsom lto seems ten be improving all the time and 7/1 is a huge price as a place again should be the very least, he could be the flat version of Hunt Ball <laugh>

Having seen a more up-to-date weather forecast, I would suggest that everybody holds their bets until much nearer race time. The going could change significantly. Remember the other Saturday when the torrential downpour eased the going from Good To Firm down to Soft in the space of an hour.

With the potential for more rain on Friday, bets on Saturday’s big sprint should probably be left until ten minutes before the off as well.

I'm 5 miles from the racecourse and it's been raining pretty heavily here for about the last hour and a half. I can't say how much has fallen on the track, but they won't have escaped it all that's for sure!

Arab Spring once again for me, seems to handle any ground and the biggest eyecatcher would be Ryan jumping off Hillstar for this

I picked out 4 for today, yesterday afternoon, but I must say that the odds being quoted about 3 on them are Terrible with a capital ‘T’. For that reason I’ll nominate just the one to the regular readers:

Windshear (1.40 Newmarket) – I think time will tell that in his last 2 races this old boy was up against 2 future Group 1 stars, in Cannock Chase and Elite Army, and the fact that he did so well to get as close as he did to both is testament to Windshear’s ability. In my view he meets nothing of that calibre today and is the clear pick based on those 2 outings. Also he wasn’t stopping over 12 furlongs last time so the step up in trip should be another plus for him. Really like this one today and I believe 11/4 to be corking value.

Good luck all.

I'm not as close to HQ as PN (about 30 miles away) but it has been bucketting down here for the past 90 minutes.

If Newmarket are getting this there will definitely be a going change, official going is good to firm, and I can see that changing to good to soft. Or even worse if this doesn't ease up!

Morning all, nearly afternoon.

Have done the first 3 races at Newmarket earlier before knowing that there is plenty of rain about but they are:
1.40 Windshear who has soft form
2.10 Ivawood
2.40 Arab Spring

Away from Newmarket I also fancy ODDYSEY in the 4.15 Doncaster. Won this race last year and won a better race than this the last time. Currently around 8/1.

I can see the merit in Windshear and why he is fancied, but no one can fail to be impressed with Forever Now's win last time out, albeit in a much lower grade.

I'm happy that Gosden knows what he has with this one and have had a chunky one at 5-2 <ok>

For once I am also happy with most of my comp picks and fully expect to be a millionaire by 5-45 tonight

Ivawood - Arab Spring - Mange all - Pretzel to win plus a couple of good ew's in Dubai Breeze for the ever youthful Clive and Pearl Blue in anticipation of the softened ground 16-1 and 11-1 respectively <ok>

Afternoon All

My Lucky 15 for today:

1.40 New Vent De Force (can see Ryan Moore pushing on from the front)
2.10 New The Great War (disappointing at Ascot but too soon to write off)
2.40 New Dandino (needed the run on his reappearance and I reckon will go close today)
3.15 New What About Carlo (impressive win last time out and I fancy him to go in again)

Best of luck to all, cheers Trevez

140 vent de force gets good ground and if they improve as the going has then double figures is taking the biscuit ! I wont be backing ew as I think it may be very comfortable.
muhaarar double figures again but ew on this with a rf with no2
Arab spring should eat up the field

Really like the look of 3.15 Newmarket Madeed 7/1. Finished 7th in the Britannia at Royal Ascot off this mark but was 2nd overall in his unfavoured far side group just behind American Hope and with just 4 starts to date I think he'll go very close if as effective over 10f
