The club has announced he joins us on a 2 year deal, after impressing Peeters whilst on trial. The jury is out on this one for me, but welcome to CAFC and hopefully he turns out to be a positive acquisition.
Perhaps I should ask for a trial... two Bob is obviously easily impressed... even with my bad knees, bad back, wide girth and lack of pace . . . . . . . . just realised the flaw....... I'm British
He'll do for me. I can see him doing a job for us. Big, strong and experienced. With Wood and Cort departing we're desperately short at CB. Give the fella a chance.
Careful....you will upset the Muesli Munchers on here with comments like that Positives: he is an experienced Championship centre half, in an area where we need cover Negatives: he makes Paolo di Canio look like a choirboy
A massive Championship club sign 24 year old Hutchison on a free from Chelski while we sign the somewhat older and slower headcase Bikey from a Turkey or was it Grease..... umm?? not at all impressed
Impressed me in Belgium but that was against SL and STVV 'teams' containing youngsters and triallist, like we had. When SL played in training bibs you can see how serious the whole 'cup' thing was taken. Good to have some muscle at the back and hopefully his partners will not leave him exposed but this does worry me, more than a bit. Time will tell.
I know we are short of CB's but ...really? Least Gomez will get plenty of game time when he gets suspended Shall we have a bet on red/yellow cards, 2 red and 8 yellow this season for me!
Willing to give him a chance, but history is not too impressive, will we sign an Englishman this year?
Time for all the fantasists on here to stop yearning for Bob's promised "quality" signings to stave off our otherwise inevitable relegation. Much less any ideas that RD has changed his strategy and will be backing Charlton for promotion. The truth is we will sign any rubbish to pad out the squad if it comes cheap enough. (I personally could not care what nationality they are, but foreigners come cheaper). Bikey is three stone overweight and cannot break into a trot. He represents a step down from Dervite, Wood and Cort (unless Cort's fitness was deemed irreparable). In fact we have not signed any player who is remotely as good as the ones we have let go. The only one I welcome is Moussa. Although he is barely Championship quality he does at least fill a positional "hole" we have had for a decade. I see the bookies have us among the three favorites for relegation, though 5/2 looks generous odds to me. Maybe those odds will shrink once they digest this latest evidence that we have nil ambition. Blackpool are favorites for relegation. No arguments from me there. Riga will be gone by New Year.
When I checked on the weekend we were 5th or 6th favorites for relegation - which is where I roughly think we will finish. We need further investment - and better than what we've acquired so far.
I don't Bikey is that bad a player from what I saw of him previously, obviously now his fitness is a question but it could have been a worse signing.
Odds checker? We have dropped in price on betfair and sky, but as if writing this we are 4th with them. They must not have been impressed with the Bikey signing!
Oddschecker indeed..... they must not be impressed with any of our summer signings ..... they are not alone..... perhaps they are also not impressed with Two Bob's long ball tactics last weekend either? Not sure we will ever get Gomez to sign an extended contract at this rate .. another Poyet? 2year contract then offski?
At least he's on a 2-year contract, which is better than nothing, which is what I expected. If our new signings, and Bob's tactics, turn out to be rubbish I wonder what Roland's next move will be?
Looks like he'll be gone before the season starts. Apparently he has less than a full squad, Oyston not spending, he's totally pissed-off and Deportivo want him. http://www1.skysports.com/football/...jose-riga-is-on-deportivo-la-coruna-shortlist
Relax everyone. RD is fantastic news - he is nothing less than the Willy Wonka of Belgium football owners. Look at his track record to date, and stop whingeing you Victor Meldrew lookalike, manic depressive bastards. 1. Lovely new red seats this summer at our stadium. 2. New urinals at Sparrows Lane, and hash browns now on the menu in the canteen for the players. 3. A new pitch made of the finest silk strands. 4. A top class and much sought after new manager, plucked from one of the top sides in the Belgian 2nd division. 5. Top quality signings in Ventekole (he cost 10m euros, BTW..), Buyens, Moussa and Bikey. 6. Old unproven Conference standard rubbish like Poyet, Hamer & Dervite dispensed with. 7. Mercenary, jonny cum lately Charlton employees (who are both actually Palace supporters, I am told) Paul Ellis & Colin Powell made redundant. 8. And the cherry on the RD cake- the renaissance of legendary Walter Mitty Richard Murray - proof that Roly has our best interests at heart. Not only that, the weather here in Clacton, where I have spent the last six weeks on the beach with my head buried in the sand, is beautiful. Life is great. Must go now, to post something similar on 29 other Charlton message boards.
