7.10 Brighton Sagesse 2/1 Always take not of a SMP runner at Brighton, he doesn't send his horses here for the sea air . His horses take to the track and my selection took a while to get on to his stride lto and the first time blinkers will really make a difference
7.30 Uttoxeter - Bajan Blu Escapes a penalty for last weeks win and surely has more to come, the drop down in trip should be no bother. Started handicap company on very nice mark and the stable is Making full advantage if this.
A similar line of reasoning behind my selections in the 4-00 at Ponty Butterfly McQueen and Masarah. BMc is Andrew Balding's only runner at the grim Northern track with it's skyline view of the steaming cooling towers. No sea air to be had here, so there must be another reason for the trek - can't imagine he has relatives there! Then I looked a little further and spotted Masarah. Whilst Newmarket to Ponty, isn't quite as far as from Berkshire, Clive Britain is also making a solo run with this one, and on the book there seems little reason to believe that BMc can beat the reopposing Masarah. So now totally undecided I have dutched the pair of them and included a rfc too
2.15 Lingfield Gung Ho Jack 9/1 This isn't a race that will take a lot of winning and I'm hoping that John Best has plotted up his 5 year old Gung Ho Jack here today as he races here off a career low mark of 60 and, dropped into a 0-60 handicap for the first time, I'm hoping he can take the Lingfield opener with George Baker an encouraging booking. A winner of 5 career starts to date, Gung Ho Jack's last win came off a 2lb higher mark of 62 at Kempton over 6f last October but he had run really well on two occasions in January 2013 over this C+D when beaten a length or less of mark of 69 & 70 and on a going day I certainly think he's better than a mark of 60 dropped into this low tier handicap. Starting off this year rated 65, Gung Ho Jack ran disappointingly on his first 3 outings before putting in a much better performance when 3rd under Baker two starts back at Kempton off a 1lb higher mark of 61 and the indication that day would be that his time would be near. That race hasn't really worked out too well but it was the visual nature of the performance that caught my eye and he shaped as if a horse who still retained his ability. Despite running not great (not terribly either) at Goodwood last time, he's been dropped that potentially vital 1lb to a mark of 60 which allows him to venture into a lower grade of race and I'm hoping that makes all the difference as these races are really no great shakes. Stall 8 could have been kinder but the booking of George Baker (has won on him) buoys my optimism today and I think there could be a fair bit of money for him throughout the day. Although the case I've made can't really be defined as a particularly strong one, my gut is telling me that he's going to go very close and as such I've had a reasonable size wager that he can record career victory number 6 now facing his easiest task to date.
Reebs Pontefract a grim Northern track? You obviously haven't been to Catterick on a wet September afternoon. Ponty is actually quite a nice track, and nicely situated. Not my favourite track as I feel the straight is a touch too short and draw is all important. But not a grim track at all. Ask Heis about Redcar when the sun's not shining.
Miami carosel seems to be collecting 3s at the minute but could send the trainer and claimer into a spin at ew odds
After having egg on my face after wrongly saying Colombia would destroy Brazil, I confidently predict Germany will destroy Brazil in 90 minutes tonight. Odds of 9-5 with Hills.
Morning, crew. Hope everyone on board well. To my eye the 4/1 about DUTCH ROSE, what a lovely name for a filly by the way, in the Listed heat at Ponty (4.00) looks quite big. Her win at York off 97 is the standout form in the race for me whilst although only 6th last time she still ran more than respectably as the old girl finished close to some very good sorts such as Fencing, Custom Cut and Lockwood. She’s very versatile ground wise and also on official perches has 2 lbs + in hand on the rest of her rivals. I see in the World Cup betting we’ve now got triple 11/4 co-faves! Good luck to all.
Attivo: That's a very thoughtful opening to today's DT, very well put... RIP Michael Scudamore, a fine jockey and trainer, and a good man.
Don't know if they'll 'destroy' them, fusion, but there never has been a better chance for a European nation to win the whole thing outright in South America than at present?
Its in the 2:30 @ Pontefract. Cracker may have a chuckle but I tipped BRITISH EMBASSY for this race on twitter last night when it was a very generous 14/1.
Sorry fusion spent 30 mins on the race before work rushed to bet and post just highly busy at moment stick has put you right though and made me wonder what he sees in his choice lol so now got to double check
Any can win stick you know that and 14s was still available this morning heavily backed now though , british was one I previously had not seen in running but the first run I watched earlier on atr and the descriptions of the latter two runs put me off but they have a good booking onboard are weighted very well and the extra furlong could help . As we all know aswell any of them could improve vastly at this age ! I was a bit keener on another runner but on evaluation changed my mind. Good luck though all who are on
Gamble went awry. Winner blew the race to pieces though so you probably can't really look too much into those in behind. Wouldn't be rushing to back Gung Ho Jack next time though.
