    Must be a release clause. Quick profit but no where near what we should be getting.

    Shaw = 30 mill

    Debuchy = 8 mill

    Really!? I know there is a big age gap there and Debuchy hasn't got so long at the top but that is crazy. Will hate it when he leaves. The Arse have got themselves a proper player there.

    What in Gods nsme is going on here? This deal if true just doesn't make an ounce of sense. Why oh why do we do these things, and who on earth are we proposing to replace him with for that amount , l guess the answer is no-one. Just don't understand this at all, it's just complete nonsense, and really takes the shine off signing SDJ

    Latest from some BBC journo on twitter is that Debuchy has been allowed to discuss personal terms with Arsenal but that no transfer fee has been agreed between the clubs. Hopefully all this £8million business is nonsense.

    If we fail to replace Debuchy with someone fitting of his ability and if (only an if mind you) we lose Krul and have Elliot starting games we will be leaking even alot more goals than the 2nd half of last season.

    I can't believe it will be 8 million though. That would be scandelously low for a player of his quality.

    The Chronical is stating that we were offered Micha Richards but have declined, I guess this is just trying to stoke the fires and have another dig at Ashley and co, it simply can't be true? Can it.

    I would not be at all surprised. £8million fee and £60k+ wages being spoken about. We might sell Debuchy for that but spending it all on the replacement doesn't sound like Mike's cup of tea.

    I doubt we'll sell him for 8 million. The only way i see that happening is if campbell or jenkinson is coming the other way.

    Richards is available for £4m this summer, but we won't pay that or his wages. We will look for a freebie or a loan signing to replace debs.

    Campbell would most likely come on loan. We really need at least one of strikers (we all know we need two) to be a permanent sigining. I rate Campbell from what I have seen but I'm afraid if we did get him on loan as part of the Debuchy deal he would be the only striker we would bring in the transfer window.

    ****e. The bloke was class and will kick on under a club with ambition and a great manager.

    We will probably end up getting a bottom feeder like Simpson back or something similar.

    GFN just confirmed he passed his medical. A deal must be in place then. Hopefully we get a player in + cash. Because i know theres a good chance that money isn't going to be reinvested.

    11.2 mio? Not a bad for a nearly 30 year old.

    Arguably Simpson was just as good as Debuchy.

    I can't say I agree with any of these comments. To me I'm not sure why anyone couldn't appreicate Simpsons time here. He did a terrific job and played at his absolute maximum. His maximum wasn't as good as Debuchy's but nonetheless he was an excellent member of the squad. Lets not forget, the best defence we have seen at Newcastle in goodness knows how many years had him in it. That spell where we had Krul, Colo, Saylor, Raylor and Simpson playing was as good as it got. Not the most talented bunch we've had, but easily the best most cohesive unit. All four understood the league and operated as a unit, not as individuals. The commitment to not get beat saw the 11 game unbeaten spell which led to te solid base for an excellent season. A great advert for getting the balance right between foreign and home based players.

    Simpson was ****ing terrible. Constantly out of position, terrible at crossing, never tried to beat a man, poor marking and of course the legendary long throws up the line which never went to one of our players and conceded possession time after time.

    Also, that was Colo's best year, you take him out of that defence it crumbles.

    Further to confirming that Debuchy has passed his Arsenal medical, GFNFrance are suggesting it is an upfront £10million fee, rising to £13million based on appearances. If the rumours that we have agreed a £5.2million fee with Feyenoord to sign Janmaat selling Debuchy should prove to be good business. Debuchy out Janmaat + £8million in.

    Bbc are suggesting Campbell and/or Jenkinson could be coming the other way.
    Don't pretend to know too much about either but if Jenkinson was anywhere near as good as MD then arsenal would of just stuck with him surely?
