For all the traditionalist Yorkshiremen who would prefer toremain with our natural cultural partners north of the Humber, rather than the BBC's fabricated equivalent, it's been a glorious weekend. The sense of pride from seeing our county in all its glory must be hurting for the London based execs who dreamt up such an un-natural region and all the Not606 posters who worship Burns, Swann, etc. Humberside's day's must now be numbered!!!!
Yes, it's been just like old times- all the action/money/focus about 70 miles west of our region. I put it down to the lack of sporting success, particularly football, in that part of the world.
They have bugger all else to cheer about...all sport in the West & North Riding is ****...they will take anything they can get...even if its for 2 days. BBC East Yorkshire is coming...
Does the OP really still hanker after Harry 'Cloth Cap' Gration's sports section over our local version? I'm getting quite au fait with Boston's street drinking problems but I don't know if it's reciprocated with their interest in RL.
Will you lot please **** off with your insecurities and enjoy what you've got. I appreciate as a non-Humbersardian this post might make me unpopular but some of you have really been quite tiresome.
considering Yorkshire is Englands biggest county, stretching all the way downthe country, I have come to like Humberside as it seems more exclusive. We dont speak like Yorkshiremen. We seem to have our own accent. And to be fair I like being different.
I'm only aware of two people on here who prefer Humberside. Patty being the third is hardly worth acknowledging. I'm sure Mussy just makes these threads for attention, he never actually responds when challenged.
If you mean me, I don't have a 'preference' - they both exist in that they are in daily usage in the public domain and the world at large understands what region is being referred to , whether any of us like it or not. If someone denies one 'exists' despite a wealth of factual evidence, then it seems correct to point out that is does 'exist'. Preference is nowt to do with it. It's clear many people prefer to refer to the area they live in as 'Yorkshire'. The broadcasting argument of 'Humberside' is a slightly different issue. By having a BBC in Hull we get far superior coverage of our area than we did with Look North Leeds. Just trying to move this discussion forward instead of recycling the same old crap.
Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom/Great Britain. These are the only places I refer to as my home of which I am proud. Not Yorkshire, (nor Europe). Hulls place in Yorkshire has similarities with that of the UK in Europe. All though we are a part of it, somehow we are different and detached. Not a bad thing in my opinion.
Iv'e noticed this^. Muss seems to like coming on here and starting a thread, then pissing off and leaving us to it. Why ? No idea. He likes it though so as long as it makes him happy....
