Realistically I am quite surprised that nobody has made an offer for Baldock based on his goal tally for last season. Even thought the usual platitudes have been made from him regarding his wanting to stay at Ashton Gate it must surely be tempting to get a boost in going to a supposedly better club. No club stands still and if a good offer is received then I think he will be gone, and we then have to move on without him. We have always been a selling club and I don't think Baldock is any different than some that have left before him.
unless a real silly bid comes in id say its worth keeping him even though he is out of contract at the end of the season if we went up it'll be worth it if we don't it was worth the gamble
Hope sammy and jet stay, all the hard work will be undone if they go. We have a title winning squad do not mess up now. Keep this squad and top position is there for the taking.
To be honest, I'm surprised we got this far without any club enquiring about him. Hopefully he stays like Lanny says it's a gamble but a gamble worth taking with his contract on the last year.
Sam has already stated publicly that he and his partner are settled in Bristol. He is under contract until 30 June 2015, presumably on Championship salary level. From his interviews on tv/City i-player, he appears to be a thoughtful, sensible person, so he will know that another season of twenty plus goals will be a good bargaining point for his next contract, wherever that may be. He will also be aware that the playing squad at City is now considerably stronger than it was last season. We lost one match in the last thirteen games and only 3(?) after SC arrived. Thus he, like us, will be expecting a real push for promotion. If that is achieved and he is happy living in Bristol, he gets Championship football without uprooting family. What is his realistic transfer value? £1.2 million? £1.5 million? We do not need to sell to balance the books. A replacement could cost the same. So unless a Championship club come up with a silly money offer of let's say more than£2.5 million, my guess is that Sam Baldock will be leading from the front for the whole season.
Getting a replacement wouldn't be easy either as any player who could replace baldock would likely garner interest from championship sides
If we lose Baldock we will be forced to buy someone who is proven. Maybe a long shot but Assombalonga!
Well nobody has put a bid in for him yet. As said, it's a long shot. Would rather we keep Baldock. Not worth considering selling him unless Brighton want to pay 2mil +
