Nigel Pearson is considering a £5 million bid for Sunderland striker Connor Wickham. Pearson, the Leicester City manager, has added Wickham to his list of forward targets and could make a bid for the former England under-21 international next week. Wickham played a huge role in securing Sunderland's survival last season, with five goals in three crucial games, but is facing an uncertain future at the Stadium of Light. The 21-year-old was pictured partying with a £17,500 15-litre bottle of Armand De Brignac champagne in Puerto Banus last weekend and is set for talks with Sunderland manager Gus Poyet. Wickham has one year left on his contract and, while Sunderland have opened talks over a new deal, Leicester are preparing an ambitious bid to bring him to the King Power Stadium. Pearson is keen to sign a powerful forward this summer following Leicester's return to the Premier League and has already seen three bids rejected for Brighton & Hove Albion striker Leonardo Ulloa. Now Wickham has emerged as a serious target and Leicester are ready to test whether Sunderland will sell. Wickham was signed from Ipswich Town for an initial £8 million in 2011.
Think that 6m is a bit cheeky, think we'd need to pay at least what you bought him for despite this being the last year of his contract. Views of other Leicester fans on a more popular site; http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/95934-connor-wickham/
Leicester City and the rest can go forth and multiply...Connor is an SAFC asset and hero.....why would we let him go??
Seem a realistic bunch on there mate, makes a change, we usually get bombarded by newly promoted fans telling us why they are bigger, better & brighter than us Welcome to the Premier League.
I second this. Ive always had alot of time for Leicester since we confirmed our promotion against them about 10 years ago at home, and some of their fans stayed back to applaud us.
I used to dislike Chelsea until a similar thing, the year the Mags went down. Wasn't that they stayed back, although that was good, was more the banter with their lads around town after, we ended up on a bender with 3 Chelsea lads till the small hours, still meet up with them home & away (if I go, which I haven't recently...). It's class when football brings people together like that, doesn't happen enough nowadays.
When the article was written why did they feel the need to include. wtf has that got to do with a potential transfer?
Cheers lads. Would be great to get Connor but don't see you letting him go.... And certainly not for 5million Excited to be back in the Prem. It's going to be a roller coaster ride for us.
Seems more likely. Leicester City have taken a step closer to signing striker Fraizer Campbell from Cardiff after triggering a release clause in his contract. The 26-year-old has a relegation clause which allows him to speak to other clubs if they bid £800,000. Read more: http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/L...tory-21198538-detail/story.html#ixzz36Z2TIBMo
