Manchester City are willing to accept a knockdown fee for Micah Richards. The defender, 26, made just two Premier League appearances for the club last season and has one year remaining on his contract. The league champions are open to offers that would include significant add-ons based on appearances, given his injury history. A source close to Richards said they were relaxed about the situation but acknowledged he was unlikely to stay. Birmingham-born Richards has been with City since the age of 14 and made his England debut in 2006, aged 18. He was linked with a £20m move to a host of top clubs in 2011 but a number of injuries and the emergence of Pablo Zabaleta as City's first-choice right-back limited his opportunities. The arrival of Bacary Sagna on a free transfer from Arsenal appears to have weakened his position still further. Newcastle United, Liverpool and Arsenal have been linked with a move for Richards in recent weeks and may now step up their interest. I thought a move for him would be abit too ambitious, but after reading Newcastle are interested then why shouldnt we?? He's a quality player when fit!
Yes from me. To hell with playing him rb though, he's the nippy ball playing centre half we need. Can pass a ball much better than JoS anyway and way better defensively.
I agree, far better than Glen Johnson so Liverpool could make a move Seamus Coleman seems to have the RB spot nailed on in the Everton team however
I would say no atm, yes I agree he looked to become a great player maybe 2-3 years ago however since then how often has he played? 2 appearances for City last season? I think it's another case of 'he is from City therefore he must be good' when in reality he will need possibly a full season to bed in/find his feet AKA Adam Johnson, remember how exciting it was to sign him, but after 10 games... he was meh (needed time). Can we afford this in a defence position?
Poyet said "2 players for every position but, if you can get a defender who can play CB or RB then that free's up space for a more attacking player" (I've put quotes around it - it wasn't his exact words but it was the gist I got from it) Richards would certainly fit that mould
He would mate, not concerned by his missed games neither, A hard worked pre season will sort that, the missed games just mean he's never reached his potential which would have been way out of our league anyway.
That's just it ey for me too soul, can't even remember the last game he played.. Apart from that like others on ere if he gets rid of injuries etc then he'll be a big + no doubt!
An absolute and utter yes from me. If we kept him fit and played him every week (which we would), he would be a beast. I wonder what a 'knock down price' is in City terms tho....
