It is reported Town will receive an initial £3.75 million that could rise to £7 million. Well done Mr Evans, im shocked we could get that much!!
Very impressed if true. Seems strange that the reports are so varied with BBC reporting in excess of 2m, which most would read as between 2&3 I assume and now this new report giving a value of 2 or 3 times our initial thoughts. Happy days if true, espcially as based on recent form I dont think he is worth anywhere near that kind of money
SORRY to double post but where is this figure of 7m coming from? BBC says in excess of 2m, Evening Star says in excess of 3m and Sky says undisclosed.
The amount we go (will get) is all relative. It will only be good deal if we can replace him, like for like, and have change left. If we can't find a suitabe replacement, and the team is is weakened by the sale, then it's NOT good business. I'd rather have the best left back in the league in my team than £4m in the bank (which in effect will go to pay off some of ME's debt) Call me cynical, but i honestly don't think MM will be spending any of the Cresswell fee on players.
Tractorbhoy, twtd!! Various sources close to West Ham are reporting that Town could ultimately receive £7 million for full-back Aaron Cresswell if all the top-ups included in the deal are triggered, with the Blues receiving an initial £3.75 million.
Thanks Spanish. If it comes from TWTD then it must be rubbish as is 99% of the stuff posted on there. I think i will believe the 2-3m until more realistic sources are available!
No, it came from various sources close to West Ham. Actually TWTD is very good imho, they usually are first to break stories etc
The news stories are usually well written and on (or close to) the money - Phil does a good job But anything written on the forum or comments on news articles are 99% tripe. The amount of outlandish statements that have no grounds makes it read as though it is a platform for any fool with a thought to air everything that runs through their head with no 2nd consideration... (dare I say it) but this site atleast has some objective views and occasionally a well thought out debate and discussion breaks out
I think Mings will step up fine, from what i saw last season Mings was better at LB than Chambers was at RB (albeit Chambers did very well considering he was played out of position). We need to use this money to get an attacking midfielder or a good GK that will challenge Gerkin for the position.
IMO he's our best player and it's a huge whole to fill especially as we relied on him so much last season creatively but it's very good money for a fullback, you rarely hear many fullbacks going for alot of money with the odd exception!!
" I think Mings will step up fine " I honestly don't yet, way way way below the required standard. He's only 20, get him on loan until January then possibly second half of the season. If we want to come top 6 we need far better than Mings from the outset I'm afraid. Look at last season - Hewitt ( twice the player ) was found out, with 3 points from a possible first 15 available.... we missed the play offs by four points or so. Not for me yet, possibly one day.
Hiya Westy, I have to agree with you that Mings is not ready to take Cressys place, Ive seen nothing to suggest hes up to the standard required yet. I know hes big and strong but hes very clumsy and his distribution is poor which was one of Cressys strengths. Hes very young and Im sure will improve but a shoe in for Cressy? Not yet he aint.
Mings is athletic and strong, not a lot else for me. Distribution is horrific too. I don't think he's going to be a success story with us long term, just my views. Big season ahead for Elliot Hewitt, who COULD be the answer in CM yet if he doesn't play RB. Like this lad, down to him what his future has in store for him.
