http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28124256 Not one to start threads like this usually, but I've seen a lot of talk about right back and whether we need a replacement/understudy for Rangel. Now Micah Richards would certainly be more in the replacement than understudy camp, but is he worth a punt? I wouldn't have thought he'd command the greatest wage bill given that he'd probably be more than happy to pick up some regular football after some injury-ravaged seasons, and I wouldn't have thought he'd be that expensive - between £5m and £10m I'd have thought. A right-back by trade at the moment, but a player that could more than easily cover centre-back as well with plenty of experience in that position, and only 26 years old. I'm not advocating that we go get him right away; I'm just intrigued by what we all think.
Mate if we could afford him or his wages, would have him in a heartbeat. Would fit in here perfectly. Wasted at Man City.
If we could keep him injury free and afford his wages he would be a hell of a signing. Would add some much needed explosive power in defence.
He would literally strengthen our defence, which I feel is where we need an overhaul (not necessarily in personnel but at least in organisation). The injury problems are a worry though.
Because he is so injury prone I would like to believe it is worth the risk to buy Yedlin for £5M-£10M instead. Micah is proven but that young American looks the business for a club of our stature.
Id cut off my arm to get Richards , needs a fresh start and there would be no better start for him than us.
Why spend the money and you can sign him for free next summer... Too much risk for a player with so many recent injuries.
Depends on the package but yes. A great player who would bolster our defence. Would be an asset, when fit, as he can play anywhere in the back line but I doubt we'd pay his wage demands. Like your idea Project, Yedlin looks good doesn't he? and would look even better in a Swansea shirt.
I think Richards would fit in perfectly at right back and also provide great cover at the centre of defence. My only concern is the wage he might demand and the fact that he's proven to be prone to injury. Worth a punt though at the right price.
