I thought it was Folans first game for us and he got knocked out in a head to head collision that game?
You're right he took a right thump on the head that game - I was left thinking this fella will become a City legend as he carried on; Our Caleb then did his best over next couple of seasons to make sure I fully grasped that I feck all. Can't remember why but I really enjoyed that game, in fact I enjoyed that season
Leading City out vs Fulham in our 1st Prem game...nobody will ever do what he has done with City! 4 divisions 1 captain despite being written off with every promotion.
The goal itself wasn't special, but the fact he did it on his return from yet another career threatening injury. On the ITV cup final build up they introduced Ash by showing a clip of some opposition attacker dribbling and Ash just comes flying into view from off camera and takes man and ball out of the picture. Sums him up well.
The 'only' things? They were 2 absolute master strokes that put us on the road to where we are now. We have a lot to thank Jan Molby for. A City legend for giving us 2 absolute legends!! -> "Leading City out vs Fulham in our 1st Prem game...nobody will ever do what he has done with City! 4 divisions 1 captain despite being written off with every promotion". This! And leading us out on our famous day at Wembley. We waited a long time for those special moments.
Ashbee scored at Bpool when Folan made his debut...We lost as BBB got the winner in the 96th minute following a lenghty injury to the aforementioned Folan. Ash at Yeovil....A shot then a dealthy hush fell over the ground as the ball nestled in the top corner...Only for the City fans to explode..Great days...
Ashbee deserves a statue more than any other City player ever! CTID get something sorted! The only player EVER to captain a team through all 4 divisions and what do we do, ignore it and charge him admission to the KC for our home games.
1) Goal @ Yeovil (the winner and promotion goal). 2) Standing up to Man City players in the tunnel (PL nov 2008) just before they came out. A true skipper.
