Micah Richards: Man City will listen to offers for defender

    By Mike Keegan
    BBC Sport

Manchester City are willing to accept a knockdown fee for Micah Richards.
The defender, 26, made just two Premier League appearances for the club last season and has one year remaining on his contract.
The league champions are open to offers that would include significant add-ons based on appearances, given Richards' injury history.
A source close to the player said they were relaxed about the situation but acknowledged he was unlikely to stay.
Birmingham-born Richards has been with City since the age of 14 and made his England debut in 2006, aged 18.
A series of impressive performances saw him linked with a £20m move to a host of top clubs but, since then, a number of injuries and the emergence of Pablo Zabaleta as first-choice right back have seen him fall down the pecking order.
The arrival of Bacary Sagna on a free transfer from Arsenal appears to have sealed his fate.
Newcastle United, Liverpool and Arsenal have been linked with a move for Richards in recent weeks and may now step up their interest.

We shouldn't be going down that route again.

I disagree, I think it's the ideal way to go. A small initial outlay, and pay more in add on's if he proves to be a success and remain injury-free.

Good player, trouble is he's on massive wages and probably wouldn't accept low wages with a decent app. fee.

Would be very happy to see him at QPR, he needs a move where is going to be guaranteed starter

Very good player, hopefully Onuoha can have a word and convince him to come.

He'd fit the mould of a reasonably aged and English signing and he'd improve our defensive options no doubt.

I think Caulker is the better player but Richards would be a more than reasonable 2nd option

Someone should take a chance on him. Struggles with injuries but when fit he's a top defender.

He's on 70K per week per some reports.

A formidable player but we'd need to haggle expertly to make this right for us.

Would certainly be a good signing IMO however I think salary would be an issue even if able to get for a reasonable fee.

I can't believe he's only 26, top player when fit.

he's been injured for almost three seasons solid. Apparently a great player, but manager after manager at city and England have overlooked him so either his fitness, ability or attitude must stink. The last thing we need is another Zamora/Johnson who is neither here nor there and we keep having to shuffle the team around to accommodate when fit.

If on a sensible contract I don't see why not, he is still fairly young.

We did take Dunne on last year after he had missed a season due to injury and he proved to be one of the best acquisitions.

I have always rated Richards, his distribution is great, that coupled with Ned's pace, it could be a formidible partnership...

Spot on kamp..the guy is one of the best defenders in the league but he's always injured..... Him and Ned would be formidable at the back.....BUT...he's been injured for ages..ala Dyer,Luke Young, Jenas, johnson, OBZ...

WHy would we be stupid enough to go down that road again !
