Is anyone worried that we might end up with a starting squad of 7-8 Italians or would it not bother anyone, is there just no pleasing me lol

I ask because all the links and rumours are of Italian based players, just one Brit and he can't get a game for Maidstone.

I personally think Cellino is going to prove to be a canny owner for us.

All the deadwood that's getting shifted is League 1 standard at best.

Watching the world cup has got me thinking that we didn't need another merry go round manager who would waste 10-15 million on a load of over hyped, ego inflated mercenaries.

What we need is some young talent who can go out and express themselves like we have seen from 'so called' weaker nations at this WC.

Hockaday's job will be to put them through their paces in training.

I have a gut feeling that we will be pleasantly surprised this season and finish higher up the table than where many expected us to.

We've been talking about 2 year plans, 3 year plans and all sorts under previous managers. However, this sort of deadwood shifting is the only way to go about that. It's a great show of intent in the first place I think, and the patient among our fan base will accept that while we might not replace them all with star quality, it's about time we got some players off our books who aren't good enough.

That being said, I am shocked Warnock has been told he isn't needed

i dont believe you are the only Leeds fan that actually sees whats actually going on its just the others dont want to believe it <laugh>

just read that cellino making players wash their own kits and bring packed lunches is a shrewed move to take you back to basics and a foundation to build for a promotion push in the future <doh>

    <laugh> i nearly fooking <wah>

I am not worried we haven't brought anyone, more concerned about being linked with players like Blackman and every Italian based player going

Warnock & Marius Zaliukas had their contracts canceled now, good as both were poor and Warnock very overpaid! Cellino doing what should of happened years ago, clearing out the deadwood for some new fresh faces to come in. <devil>

I think (and hope) there is a pattern emerging in our teambuilding. Cellino knows the Italian market, so I assume he's taking advantage of that before he loses touch. I think he'll be bringing in experience from Italy, and making use of the youngsters from the UK. Could be quite a sensible blend, as he knows his market, & our coaching staff know our kids. Bit of a generality, but it seems a good strategy to me.

Or am I talking pish again? Thoughts?

Ristac I have the same worry as you. At this rate we'll have released/sold every player who plays for the squad and replace them with 20 plus Italian based players.

So much for the idea of bringing in young British players

I certainly wouldn't like the club to go the same way as Watford, the slagging I gave them. But there's nothing we can really do about it.<wah>
