Ipswich Fan in peace. Just wanted to get some of your thoughts on your former player Cameron Stewart. We have signed him today on a free. I don't know too much about him only that he was on loan at Leeds last season. He looks pretty good on some of the clips that I have seen so any further info would be good. Cheers in advance!
When he first arrived he was brilliant, but he then began to decline in form. He then got injured and when he came back he was back to his old self again. He then got injured again and when he returned he was loaned out to various clubs at Championship level where he was pretty ineffective. He started ok at Leeds but faded. If he has the desire and the drive to be an Ipswich player and can live up to his potential, he'll be a class act for you. If he doesn't, you've just wasted a hell of a lot of wages. Hopefully Hunty can take him under his wing (arf!) and show him what it's all about.
There was once potential to be a very good player. If you can find that potential again you will be on to a winner. Unfortunately the lad looks to have lost his way big time.
Before injuring himself at your place he was class. For a short period upon his return from that injury he was class. Then he turned ****. And got even ****ter. Then went on loan and spent all his time eating and came back a right fat ****.
At one point, we thought he had the world at his feet. Had a pretty bad injury then never come back from it. Rumors of head / laziness / attitude problems while he was injured. If you ban him off the Xbox, away from Mc Donalds and get his belief / head sorted then he may turn into a good player but personally, I think he is too far gone.
Has ability, he just can't be arsed it would seem to use it. He was brilliant when he first joined us, he then got injured and came back a shadow of his former self. He's been out on loan now at Burnley, Charlton and Leeds. His stint at Burnley he was lambasted for, as he came back about a stone over weight, the management questioned his desire to be a professional footballer. On a free, he could be a bargain and a world beater. The only risk being the cost of the contract you have given him. I only hope you have get out clauses if the 'Can't be arsed Cameron Stewart' is the one you have signed!
Great feedback so far fellas! I think Mick McCarthy will know exactly how to get him back on track otherwise he wouldn't have come in for him! There are certain qualities that Mick insists on above all else including working bloody hard so the fact that Cameron has decided to come here shows that at least he will knuckle down and work hard. The rest I guess is up to him but I hope that from our point of view it will be a great move for both our sakes!
His pace and step overs fooled a few into thinking he was a decent prospect. In reality he rarely beat his defender and when he did the end product was never there. Could count the half decent games he had for us on one hand.
Chance to be a great larker for you. if anyone can drag that out of him, Mick can. If not, the lads had enough opportunities. Potentially a great decision, potentially a total waste of money, only time will tell and I genuinely hope he rediscovers his old form for you. Good luck!
I hope he goes on to do well at Ipswich. There is a player in there somewhere, but it all went horribly wrong. Whether it was his attitude, Im not sure. The injuries must have rocked his confidence.
I bet you guys are looking forward to your European adventures next season! Those were the days! Best of luck!
He used to be lightning quick, he'd run at defenders, he'd cause problems, even if his end product was often lacking somewhat. After the injuries he looked slow, he'd see a defender and turn and run the other way, he'd never take a man on, he'd shy out of challenges, he'd never try anything on, and the only problems he'd cause would be cholesterol problems due to his constant stuffing of face. He also shaves stripes into his eyebrows, if that doesn't tell you all you need to know about the lad, nothing will.
He used to look like a world beater, but unfortunately, since his injury, he looks like a carpet beater. He was a very exciting player for us when he arrived, then he seemed to forget how to play football and was terrible for us and then subsequently for Leeds. If you like step-overs, then he's great, but if you like players with an end product, you're likely to be disappointed. If you ever want to meet him, just go to Nando's, it's where he lives.
Stewart is a sad case really. He once appeared to have real talent but for whatever reason he seems to have lost it. I can't see him lasting long at Ipswich and after that...who knows. His career may be almost over.
I dont see Stewart and Mick as a good match to be honest. I like em both but McCarthys no nonsense and will demand a bit of steel. Something Stewarts sadly lacking. He'll be out of the game in a year or two.
If Mad Mick can get him playing then he will rip the league up for you. Sadly, since CS got injured at your place he has never been the same player. He lacks balls and shurks any kind of tackling. He is good with an xbox by all accounts mind. I wish you good luck and hope that you can get CS back to something like what he once was.
