Summer 2014 Transfer rumour thread - Part V

My main concerns are defensive contribution (where Lallana was very strong), and the consistency thing. We don't want to be spending eight figures on a guy who will only show his class in half the games he plays and won't pull his weight off the ball. We don't want a Ruiz, basically. I get that Koeman would want to go for players he's familiar with, but there is a whole world of talent out there and we have a scouting team. It'll worry me if we just raid the Eredivisie all summer, particularly as there's little talent there capable of playing in the PL. Hopefully Koeman realises the step in quality between the two leagues.

People are going to get annoyed with my negativity on here, aren't they! Ah well.

 

Dutch Football Magazine Voetbal International reporting that Southampton, FC Twente and Tadic's agent are nearing a deal. Could be a hefty price though, read that Twente turned down Villa's offer this winter of 12.5 million euros, around 10 mil pounds. They're asking that same price now.

 

If we want someone I think we should go in slightly high....need no more faffing. Get them in....yesterday!

 

Aye, me too. I had rated Tadic around 8 million pounds for exactly that reason. He is ready to go abroad, but in the EPL consistency is everything. You get dropped once, you don't return again. Look at Liverpool, Chelsea and ManU. How many midfielders have they bought over the past 3 seasons and how many are benched or not even close to making it. Ain't the Reds dropping like 12 players this summer?

 

Yeah, I can see it happening. The good thing is we have Rodriguez and Ramirez to play in the positions where Tadic is strong, so we'd have depth there. It's up front and left back I'm more concerned about as we have no depth in those positions, and we need to bring in consistent performers there. Would be nice to have a consistent playmaker as well though.

 

Yeah don't worry I completely agree. This Eredivisie raiding is worrying me a little bit, the Pelle move first worried me that Koeman is just going for players he knows over players who might be a better fit.

 

I agree with Dan and Joe, although it's still relatively early days for Koeman. Hopefully something a little more exciting turns up soon.

 

Oh yeah it's absolutely early days. I've not lost faith in the appointment yet or anything.

 

I'd welcome Dani back with open arms at the moment. You know, as long as Jose can do the same.

Dundee United have apparently accepted a £3million offer from Sporting Lisbon for Ryan Gauld.

For that sort of money, he's got to be worth a punt! Come on Koeman, you know it makes sense, and while you're there, get Robertson as well.

I will jist wait to see how they actually play first before judging. At least we aren't spending 10m on McCormack.

When they are as cheap, young and talented as him, yes that's the plan!

 

We could prob sign the whole squad for the cost of Shaws right leg! That would sort out the squad depth!

 

We need to sign a world classed midfielder as a **** you towards Lallana.
