Cyc: Really don't think I give a damn who wins it, but I'll stick with Argentina. They look pretty solid, although it took them forever to finally break-down a stubborn Iran. For me, France are the surprise package and might even make the final stages of this tournament. No, cancel Suarez crack, 'nuff said already!

<laugh> She's married with 2 young daughters rainer - they all call her "Ayatollah" and her husband is known as "Lower-tollah" - tells you who wears the trousers.

Sorry, ste, I will never learn. It is a fact that I always fall for tongue-in-cheek posts (unless there is a 'whistle' thing, whereby I might just get it). Oh well! <doh>

Swanny/Ste: not mortified at all. It was always a bit of a show-off name, and I fully accept that I've brought any confusion on myself.

Don't really expect to stay in front, and I see that some v.formidable cavalry are beginning to close. The one right I do reserve is that if Colombia should win it - I think I was the only one to nominate them - I'll be making A LOT of noise about it, and keeping it going for the next four years. And if they meet Chile in the final, Stick and I will be making all your lives very miserable.

Rainer: Good luck! I find it hard enough to get one winner with the hosses, so forecasting the results of football matches is quite beyond me.

Agreed come on Messi, have a four fold riding on to Argentina:

    Australia - Irish Derby
    Djokovic - Wimbledon
    Hamilton - British GP

Think my luck is in with a couple of the above results

I've no long-range bets running, got no strong views on the final, and bragging rights don't mean a lot* to me, so I hope Argentina bring home your fourfold, CityHull. Good luck.

    * except, obviously, that I feel obliged to point out how far back Stick is in the peloton as the strong men disappear over the horizon....
