Hope not, he hasn't been prolific wherever he's played. At Burnley he scored in his first game and didn't score again in the next ten. Zero in four for Leicester, six in 52 for Blackpool, no thanks.
I would have him he has real potential and maybe he just needs to be somewhere where he feels like he is valued and can play without too much pressure but maybe I'm wrong just think that if we can get him quite cheap he might be a clever bit of business. I personally wouldn't fancy being a centre half against him and cody!
Potential that has failed to materialise at 5 different clubs, 20 goals in 134 games. He's 23, signed his first pro contract six years ago some players never fulfil their potential.
Fair enough but I wouldn't be distraught to see him sign a 1 year deal to give him one last chance to prove his worth as at 23 he still has time to develop and maybe under Peter Taylor he can grow.
Due to his past with the England youth set up I imagine working with Taylor would be alluring. I haven't seen him play, I know that from my Football Manager exploits of years gone by that he's pacey but whether or not he has the ability to unlock defences or pass well is unknown to me. Still, bet he's better than German!
Just saw this on twitter: @MrJohnSeager: For all #gills fans - I'm expecting at least 3 new signings this week possibly all of them on July 1st #gills12thman Hopefully true!
I think he could be worth a punt. Marin O'Neill obviously rated him at Villa, and you can ignore his spell at Coventry which was largely injury hit . Sometimes players who go out on loan, don't always fit in where they've gone, but that doesn't make them bad players. If he was that prolific,we wouldn't stand a chance of getting him, but maybe Taylor can get something out of him,if indeed it's true. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathan_Delfouneso
must admit i thought that!... appears his profile says he's a journo with about 300 more followers than me but follows back quadruple the number than me, so considering i generally only follow Gills people, i guess his knowledge of what is going on cannot be any greater than mine...and i know knowt. No offence or disrespect meant John.
A Blackpool supporter on GillsOnLine says he wishes they still had him. He was played as a winger who worked hard and tracked back, but a change of manager left him out.
Seriously that website is terrible for rumours, even twitter is more reliable than that when anyone can say anything on there.
Twitter was where the story about Defouesco was started KFG on one of the message boards has said that a story has been going around that we will make 2 high profile signings this week, but all staff at the club have been sworn to secrecy
Will be interesting today with it being the 1st July. I was not expecting any signings until today so yesterday was a surprise hopefully we will hear about a couple more today as I expect that Peter Taylor has done most of his business by now as he did say earlier last month he wanted his business all but done by the start of July. I have thought he would want all the players to have all of pre-season together and considering they start training Wednesday I would not be surprised if we announced a few today like we did 3 years ago under Hessenthaler. Hopefully we will have a centre back and at least 1 striker coming in. Have seen that up to 3 are coming in though so maybe 2 strikers or a right back to cover for Fish. I don't believe this about Nathan Delfouneso I would be very surprised if he joined us. Although he hasn't set the world alight I would be pretty happy if we were to sign him as I see him as the type of player that Taylor could bring the best out of. He is a player who was highly rated as a young player and I remember him on the brink for Villa years ago. He was also in the squad when we played them in the FA cup under Stimson and he looked a good player but it seems injuries and lack of form has damaged his development however I think this would be a good signing as he could become a good player as he has a lot of potential. However I would have thought he would go to somewhere in the championship more likely a midlands club as well.
Seen some people talking about Joe Jacobson as well as Gavin Hoyte. I feel that these two would be good signings. Gavin Hoyte can play right back as well as centre back and I have always felt that he was under-rated. I remember when he was at Arsenal and he was highly rated at the time and I was surprised to see him end up at Dag & Red. Would be happy with him at the club as although he isn't the classiest signing he would be a good signing nevertheless as he would provide the competition that we need in the team for not just centre back but also right back. Joe Jacobson would also be a good signing as I feel he was one of the better players in a poor Shrewsbury side. All I know is that he mainly plays left back, not sure if he plays centre back as that would be good for us as I feel we need someone new to start with Legge at centre back to replace Barrett. I would be happy with these two as they provide us with the extra competition at the back and I feel that they also improve the team as they are decent players.
Jacobson has joined Wycombe (why leave Shrewsbury for them?) so he's off the table. Maybe we will see Donovan Daniels come back as I remember Taylor saying when his loan ended that he wasn't going to try and resign him yet but may in the future.
Not sure what I would think about Daniels coming back. He played well in one game but other than that didn't do much and looked a little shaky at times however he could be a player who would improve the more he plays so might be a good player to bring in. I personally would rather us sign Ryan Inniss again as I think he has a lot of prospect and would be a very good defender to have. I just think he was unlucky that he got the injury as I feel he would benefit joining us again to get a good run together.
