Any ideas on how long this vile sponsor is going to remain on the roof of the Gallowgate?

I assume its until we find someone who wants the rights, but looking on nufc.co.uk, there is a new video on nufcTV, the dugouts have been taken out, probably getting new ones, but there is a wooden board that looks the perfect size for an advertisement right behind where the dugouts should be, god I hope that's not going to be another bloody sign!

Just glad I don't have to look at that horrible sign on the Gallowgate roof any more, as I will be sitting under it.

I fear what our new sponsor would be though. Its subjects like these that make me really hate MA!

I remember the day it went on, and on my daily walk home from campus I saw the glaring red and blue sign of commercial shame hanging over the city... such a sad day it was.

Well with a vastly increasing commercial world we best get used to the signs. It's only going to get worse, EVERYWHERE.

Nasty, crass and tacky - rather like the shop. I've never understood why so many fans are happy to shop in his stores (one of the most profitable I hear) yet hold him in so much contempt.

Renaming the stadium was just a step up from another former chairman, John Hall, who arrogantly named a stand after himself. I can never understand why fans - who were taken for a ride by him - insist on calling it the Sir John Hall Stand instead of the historic and beloved Leazes End.

Sorry, but i think that the sign on the roof is here for the the long haul,
even if he leaves or says he's stopped the sponsorship it will remain there until
someone else can pick up the tab for painting it out

Always the Leazes to me. I'm a Leazes Ender on tour next season.

I only ever shop in his store for the home shirt, it's cheaper. What makes me laugh but kind of pisses me off, is people who sing 'sports direct is ****ing ****', whilst stood there wearing trainers, tracksuit bottoms and a tracksuit top which was probably bought from SD.

As a company I think SD is very good. The staff are friendly, it's cheaper than JJB and JW the quality isn't that bad either. It's just the owner who's a ****, but aren't most owners?

I personally don't mind people shopping there, just don't slag it off whilst you are stood there wearing his gear.

    It's cheap and I'm a cheap bastard <ok>

It's not like boyco(u)tting his shop would make the slightest difference anyway

a couple of stores out of a nationwide chain's hardly going to cripple him financially, anyway, he'd probably be a dick about it and take the defecit out of the club's coffers.

If I'm honest its only the one on the roof that bothers me, all clubs have main sponsors and have them displayed clearly around their grounds (Wigans is far worse than ours), just because Emirates sounds posh doesn't make it any less a marketing exercise. At least ours is vaguely sport related rather than a chicken company.

As far as Sports Direct goes I never boyco(u)tted it in the first place. As annoying as the Keegan fiasco was I'm not spiting myself by buying my footie boots etc somewhere else for more money! Its easy to deride it because scummy folk love their tracksuits, but for football gear its spot on and I buy pretty much all my socks there too. Plus I'm old enough to remember when football shirts were £50 all the time, its the likes of Sports Direct that have made it so they're £30something on release, and tend to get cheaper by the end of the year, lovely stuff.

And as much as I hate Ashley. You can guarentee if Sports Direct had an amazing year, turned over more money than ever and Ashley had never been richer a bit of money would go Newcastles way...

    Wouldn't it?

    Please...

I think it will remain there for as long as our ground is called [email protected]. And for what it's worth I think Ashley has done a fantastic job. If it wasn't for him we'd be where Bradford are right now or worse still... Rushden and Diamonds!

Never boycotted it, its a completely different business! He charges less money and I'm a student...As Colly said, it's the best around for footy gear!

I buy all my toon shirts from there. I don't know why people wouldn't? Surely shopping there only aids the club?
