he scored the easiest hat trick against manure though.. nothing but respect for that man.. always admired him
Always liked him. He wasn't the most talented but he always gave 100%. Remember him saying his Dad had a trawler and gave him the choice of coming on to the ship as crew or trying to make it as a footballer. Dirk accepted he was no scholar and always said it was the fear of having to be a trawlerman that drove him on in his football career.
everyone likes the diggler. everyone respects his stats on assists and important goals... but serious.. he's well past it and he had serious flaws. He worked with gerrard and torres at thier best... ie fit, fast and unstoppable and basically covered the entire right flank releasing the full back too. but the reality was he was an awful buy as a CF and never worked there. he did great to find a role but the context fo hsi best times were torres, gerrard, alonso mascherano in the same team LFC were lucky to get such a great return out of a guy who didn't suit the prem as a striker... fair play to the diggler but going to utd... its hilarious and if he did i'd expect the best he could do is slip horse laxitives into their breakfasts for us.
