Just wondering what everybody's plans are for the two games in early August??? Tickets for the Shamrock Rovers game Saturday 2nd August are currently on sale Tel (353) 1 460 5948. I have mine already. Unreserved seating. The away supporters go in the corner in the West Stand opposite the Maldron Hotel. We will be organising pre and post match drinks at Lotts Bar, Liffey Street, beside the Ha'Penny Bridge and catching the Luas out to Tallaght for the match. The pub is 2 minutes walk away from Jervis Luas Stop. I have heard of some UK based R's travelling over for the game. No news yet on tickets for the Athlone game Tuesday 5th August. I have booked a 2 bed apartment for the night at www.archhouse.ie. A good few R's have already booked there. Some UK based R's going to this one as well. I am picking one up at the airport and driving him down to Athlone. Some Athlone based R's have a pub booked in Athlone for pre and post match pints, 2 minutes from the ground. It is called Bounty Bar. I think it is great credit to every single Irish R that the club are repaying our support by making a 6 day tour of the country this Summer. We should repay their faith and turn up in numbers to both games if possible. Hope to see you all there.
Thanks finglas for the info. I plan on going to both games. Will probably drive to Athlone and back on the same day. About 2.5 hours drive each way. I plan on taking the family to Dublin for the Shamrock Rovers game but may only take my 9 year old son to the game. Is there any suitable accommodation for a family that you would recommend near Lotts Bar. I would like to be able to drop my son off to his mother after the game so I could have some pints. Can't wait!
Some R's have booked the Maldron Hotel in Tallaght which is right beside the ground and across the road from The Square Shopping Centre (for the Mrs???). I think they said it was 85 euros for a double/twin. Hotels in the city centre are expensive as it is a bank holiday weekend and quarter final weekend in the GAA football. You can do both games???If you stayed in Tallaght, you can get the Luas into Lotts Bar. I have heard of other R's booking the Citywest Hotel which is also on the Luas line and has a pool etc for kids. It is right beside the Naas Road too. If you want something more Central, it will be more $$$$$'s.
I know the Maldron Tallaght well, nice hotel but unfortunately it doesn't have family rooms. Citywest is definitely worth considering. Cheers Finglas. To get to see Kerry and QPR the same weekend would be great. I could wear my Caterham jersey.
You'll be seeing QPR in Dublin that weekend alright. The question is, will Kerry be there too, lol??? You could always go to Croker and support Cork?
Just my luck after all these years going over to Loftus Rd they decide to come over and visit the same time my wife is bringing me away for my 50th....what do u think .....should i tell her go on her own!!!!
They will be based in the Carton Hotel hotel half way between Leixlip/ Maynooth for there the few days as far as I know...as I work only down the road might have to wander up there for a training session
How could a guy find out if they are staying in Carton House for definite? I might just book a few nights away there with the family.
The team ARE definitely staying at the Carton House Hotel. I know some club members. I was there about a week ago and it is common knowledge. I will be popping in for a cup of coffee at some stage when the team are over. Campile, I can get a spare ticket for you for the Athlone game when they come on sale. The ground is pretty small and I know the locals are pretty excited to receive a rare visit from a PL team. There will be a lot of local interest so I would advise getting your ticket in advance. Let me know if you want one.
Anyone know anything more about this? As part of the build up to this game the club would also like to welcome the QPR development squad to the stadium during the last week of July to play a friendly against an Athlone Town selection of the clubs many talented youngsters. More details on this game will follow as it becomes available.

Nice one Fingi.....Not sure if Inky is driving up or we might come up on the bus, we can pick up the return bus at the Red Cow Luas stop at 5:45 so should be enough time to get from ground......either way we shall be there.......looking forward to it......
