Not daft at all...he got top dollar. Other clubs know they won't get any bargains, but I'd rather they were put off altogether.
Terrible decision by the club and the statement from Reed is so poor. Essentially, the message is "we are a selling club with no ambition because ambition left with NC". We will use the money from our world class teenager, who could have been with us for a decade, to buy mediocre players who will have a shorter playing career to keep us somewhere near the lower echelons of the EPL. There better be a 25% sell-on clause for him because he'll end up with Gareth Bale at Madrid in four years time...
There must be a plan in place surely? Koeman would not be here otherwise .reeds statement is like pouring blood in the shark infested waters tho
I don't like the Reed quote just because it'll be catalyst for another meltdown at some point within the next 48 hours when Adam leaves.
Just a bad choice of English? I think he may of meant it will put other clubs off? But not Liverpool obviously!
I don't think that Statement is bad at all, as mentioned by Fran, he got top cash and teams know our players won't come cheap. Now if only someone would bid £25m for Osvaldo!
No, just picking up on the "lack of ambition' comment that was thrown out there. We finished 8th in our best season for years. I don't understand some people's expectations. I wish for that lucky streak that gets us into the top 6, or wins us a cup, or we do an Athletico, but the reality is we are Southampton and having a good season like last year is where we are about. I can live with that and dream for the rest, but heavens lets please not do a Leeds chasing the dream. Maybe we were chasing it a little.
Club Photographer Paul Watts saying not surprised but disappointed players are leaving, but says that they have been "brainwashed" to achieve. Said they were a great group and much of it is down to Poch and the mentality he gave to the players.
I'm sure the board would like us to be ecstatically happy, but temporary meltdowns by fans is hardly unusual and rarely has any effect. Most fans who were going to get STs will have them and there will almost certainly be large gates for most games. The only people we are distressing are ourselves. It will affect the board not one iota. P.s. I know we are upset, but will someone please tell Krueger that we don't need an inspirational speech...I, for one, would consider murder if he did. We'll lick our wounds for ourselves, Ralph.
As I've said, I think we are paying dearly for one great season...Mauricio could turn out to be the worst thing that could have happened to us. The team was pretty happy before he came.
I'm not quite understanding the anger. We got £27 million rising to £31 million for a player that has come through our academy which a world record fee for full back and the highest transfer fee Saints have received. This is for a player who wants to leave (these tend to go for less), has limited international experience and no Champions League experience. I see it as ripping off another big club like we did to Arsenal for Oxlade-Chamberlain. Lallana looks like he will go so if we can our money back for Osvaldo and include the money for Lambert that makes a transfer kitty of over £60 million. That would be excellent business for 3 players who want to leave and to be honest are replaceable. The club haven't shown lack of ambition yet. The club should be judged on how they spend the money before they are accused of a lack of ambition.
Far too sensible a post. You need to swear more and decry the imminent doom of our club - it's the only way.
