There are two main issues with a mass exodus of players as I see it. Firstly, it makes us less attractive a proposition for incoming players, unless Koeman can somehow convince all our targets that he will build a team around them. Secondly, the fact that we have a massive war chest from all the sales will be known to the clubs and agents of all our targets, making it difficult to negotiate deals which favour our club. It's all very well Les Reed saying that we will only sell if it favours Southampton, but he can't really say that we'll only buy if it favours Southampton or we'll be left with nobody at the end of August!

Teams are built over years, not created in a few weeks during the close season. We had a small but successful squad from which the heart has been untimely ripped. It remains to be seen what we'll have at the start of the season.

    Losing 4 players isn't a exodus.

Don't you have a Spurs board to bore people about Spurs stuff on?

He's decent, he's certainly not Algeria's best player so far. Willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, but pretty clear you are trolling now.

What would you describe it as then? Normal turnover?

Blackmore: Have learnt that money #saintsfc will see for Luke Shaw & Adam Lallana will amount to 50-55M IF all clauses are met, & comes in instalments

That's extremely disappointing. Max £31m for Shaw as has been reported, so that means £19-24m for Lallana. Basically £25m and we have to pay the Bournemouth clause out of it. We should have held out for much more.

PTF, you really seem to have gone full circle, from not believing anything anyone says unless it's spelled out in minute detail by the board, to now happily accepting what a journalist says on Twitter.

    Valium my friend, valium!

Blackmore has been shown to have been spot on with every detail so far. No inconsistency whatsoever in my position.

Do you not believe it? Head in the sand? :p

He may have already factored in the Bournemouth fee.

This is the ugly side of football.

Remember coming on this board when you came up to ask about Lallana and the attitude was optimism, with good reason. I said then that if you kept moving forwards that the big clubs wouldn't just stand around and let you.

And now you're being picked apart. Disheartening and takes a bit of the romance from the sport. Hope you reinvest well and the likes of Gallagher and Chambers kick on.

Yes I know, that's what I said. £19m is basically £25m less that fee isn't it?

Yes, I probably do as it happens. But we can pay people in instalments too.

I'm really not concerned about these two going, or by the price. I may be sailing that ship alone though.

And surprised many but definitely not trolling. Remember you said I was trolling when we had a few discussions about Shaw & lallana going, but I wasn't trolling then. Anyhow be keeping an eye out on who Koeman brings in and I saw your comment about not trusting the manager too heavily with the income, especially when not proven yet (over here) and that's a valid one, as you won't get many chances to invest with this type of finance again.

I ment the 50-55m was factoring in the Bournemouth fee. So around 34m for Shaw and 21m for Lallana after bonuses.

Does anyone find it a bit odd that Lallana's going to Liverpool despite being an Everton fan?
