PTF's reaction is absolutely ridiculous. My posts over the last few months may have been more positive than most but deep down I knew this was a likely outcome. Apart from a couple of angry posts earlier, I've accepted it. PTF on the other hand, has been in complete denial until now when he's been forced to accept he was wrong and is now letting rip at the board.

I don't have an issue with the concept of selling players, I have an issue with selling basically anyone with any value. I can understand selling Lambert, I can understand selling Shaw, although it's disappointing. Selling Lallana makes no sense, and selling anyone else above that (as looks likely) would be suicidal in my view.

If it stops now and we sign quality replacements, I won't be too upset, but if we lose Lovren, Schneiderlin and Rodriguez as well, I don't really see a way back from that.

I can't remember any team selling their six most important players in one transfer window and doing well out of it.

As I have said, I accepted the possibility of Shaw and Lallana leaving. Lambert was a surprise but ok. How many have to go before you think it's a problem? And no sign of anyone incoming...

Yep, as we've said to PTF for ages, he's had his head in the sand. Now it's come home to roost and has materialised, he's off on one.

    So, so predictable.

Who is accepting that Saints are becoming a mediocre/poor side? I'm certainly not at all. I just think they're going to become a different side, with different players to cheer, to love, and to be disappointed in when they eventually leave. You're all talking like we're going to be replacing these players with a bunch of Sunday League cloggers. Just wait and see, eh?

I don't doubt that he is. But we're setting a pretty troubling precedent in all of our transfers...make a little noise and we'll happily ship you to the team of your choice.

    Haha.

Yeah Lovren and Osvaldo are almost certainly going. Possibly Schneiderlin. I think we'll keep the rest.

Why do you say "happily" selling our good players. There is obviously something that has made these players want to leave. I don't think we are "happily" selling any of them. I would guess that there has been no reconciliation and players agents who have said they want "out" have stuck to there guns. AS Beefy said earlier, would you really keep them? Maybe Reed has talked it through with Ronald and he has agreed that if they really want out then get the best we can (or a good fee for the pedants who will say it isn't the best fee) and he will willingly pick up the pieces.

Now if, as PTF said, Ronald comes in and says "whoah, I'm out of here" then we have a problem.

Wouldn't it be nice if we had a hard-nosed owner who didn't take bullshit? Especially if he was an Italian. Who dressed nicely. And had a girl's name.

It's how he went about it. Long as Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool are interested we can hope there will be a bidding war.

I'm so glad I can provide some entertainment for you. I think these are legitimate questions frankly.

Good point Beddy! But I'd like to make an addition to the comments that you have made here and it regards Athletic Bilbao and Llorente. Llorente wanted a transfer some 12 months before his contract expired. Athletic could have cashed in but chose not to. He was made to play with the reserves and youth team in his final season there and when his time was up, Athletic got nothing. Stupid on their part, I do not know, but the fact is they had no reason to let him go before his contract was up and he was made to wait. Whether Southampton or anyone else would do that if there is no need to take a fee I very much doubt.

If I say I'm going to fly out to Italy to track him down and grovel at his feet, will others join me?

What, so every player who is refused a transfer has done a 'Kenwyne Jones'??! Also fatletiss, from what you have just quoted PTF about Adam not being happy to stay, I was making a similar point so not sure what's going on here!

I was a cortese backer but i'm disgusted with the apparent attitude of the squad he put together following his and podge's departure. Don't want to be held to ransom by cult of personality again.
