Oh come off it, all the same people you point to for the Shaw fee are saying £25m, which is supposedly what we turned down. You don't believe them now?

Oh yeah, sure most players are pragmatic and I expect Adam would have gotten on with it and done what he is paid to do. I just don't think he would have been happy about it that's all!

 

Yeah this is something I've worried about. 7-8 signings as an absolute minimum if we want to keep progressing rather than just replacing those who have left.

I'm not surprised about Shaw, as he was probably going to leave us after another season anyway and that price is too good. The money could be better directed to other areas. So I would have done that regardless of other events this summer.

I was a little surprised that Lallana would raise such a stink about going. I thought we would hang on to him. Obviously he would want CL football as almost every player does, but I didn't think it was going to be a dealbreaker. Or more likely it's the $$$.

Anyway, I think the Shaw deal was likely always in the works. I think the club genuinely wanted to hang on to Lallana, and perhaps that choice was given to Koeman and Koeman decided it wasn't worth it to try and keep him.

The best thing about Lallana is that he worked so hard on defense. I'm not downgrading his creative/attacking skills but there are other players who are also quite good, including perhaps Ramirez. But if Koeman doesn't require the same level of defensive commitment from wingers/attacking mc's in his system then Lallana is a bit more expendable.

 

Do we know if there are bonuses? The 25m sounds the main deal but we haven't heard anything else yet.

 

Ok, whole squad was an exaggeration, sorry:-

Just our best striker, our best attacking midfielder, our best centre back and our best young player. What am I even worrying about?

 

unless months ago, you had been prepared to look beyond the "facts" and the "evidence". It isn't a court room, it's real life. Months ago people were saying these players were on their way, yet you and quite a few others kept saying that there was no evidence so it wasn't happening. I even think that someone said you'd find it harder to deal with come the time, or you'd be more shocked.... and here we are.

 

Rodriguez odds are now crazy.

 

Lambert, Shaw, Lallana, probably Lovren, probably Schneiderlin, probably Rodriguez; it might as well be the whole team. Certainly not that fussed on the others.

Should have thought of that before signing a five year contract really.

 

I'd like to see the evidence please; unequivocal evidence.

 

There is that factor, I'm sure. I came to terms with it long before today. Still stand by everything I said a month or so ago: this board is probably weak, and I would be delighted if they announced the club was for sale. The single most devastating loss has been Cortese.
