Sure, but an extra 3m is only damaging if it sets a precedent for the rest of our signings. I'd rather Livermore and Snod for 16m than five unknowns for 3.2m for instance.
The way I see it is that there are a few areas of our game that need addressing. Corners, free kicks and delivery into the box. When a player comes along that ticks all those boxes it's better to pay a bit over the odds than let him go elsewhere and then spend the money on someone who doesn't tick the boxes. I think( if he signs) we've got one of the best dead ball specialists in the PL and a player who weighs in with goals and assists. He's a street wise, niggly little f**ker as well. One of those players that gets on other teams players tits, something we're severely lacking. We're too nice at times and Snods will add a bit of guile and bite to the midfield, no doubt he'll gob off at the ref and try to 'simulate' to win free kicks but like it or not that's the way football has gone. Not going, it's gone. Overall, I'll be very happy if Snodders signs. Very happy indeed.
This. If you really want someone and you have to pay a couple of million more than you'd of liked to then so be it, better than giving up and going for someone who you half want but aren't entirely sure on. Clearly when Bruce wants someone Allam doesn't care about the cost he'll go all out to get that player, showing the trust he has in Bruce.
Surely we'd want to sit them down in a posh lounge with that quite nice bird who's always swanning about in there with a free bar?
A free chocolate bar? Reminds me of the days when I used to cross out "United" on those chocolate bars and write "Tiger Bar" over it with a black marker pen.
Lots of people on here questioning the fees for both Snodgrass and Livermore, for me, whilst it does look like overpaying for players, what we have to take into account is the significant increase in TV money for Premier League teams compared to 2 years ago, the cost of players between English teams is relevant to that, the PL teams now have much more revenue then before, thus the selling teams will be expecting bigger fees, 7/8m now for a player is almost comparable to 4/5m for a player 2 seasons ago, bottom line is if we stay up it'll be worth it, if we go down, well fingers crossed they have relegation clauses! Failing that the new parachute payments of something ridiculous like 23m for the first season should soften the financial blow
Totally, I rather pay a little extra for quality rather than very little for sÃÃÃÃ. Nick P for example.
Shows how your mind works ^^^^ this example i mean. Oh no but for you it is more than enough. Volco XC60 does the trick just fine. I had you down as a Sainbury but yes Waitrose is just as good. As for poundland, that is where i go after filling up the Volvo. Whatever the actual fees are you get what you pay for. Being a PL football club again in a years time and it wont even be talked about. Plus if the owner is happy then so be it. Livermore for sure will only increase in value. Yes but not everyone on here understands that concept.
